Overview: The Children’s Aid National Center for Community Schools (NCCS) is a practice-based technical assistance provider that builds the capacity of schools, districts, and community partners to organize their human and financial resources around student success. By providing training, consultation, facilitation, materials, and advocacy, NCCS helps to start up and sustain comprehensive community schools that promote academic achievement, youth development, and family and community well-being.


Position Summary:

The NCCS Marketing and Communications Manager is a marketing and communications professional with experience working in nonprofit settings who collaborates with the communications, development, public policy teams at Children’s Aid and our national partners to raise the profile of NCCS and attract clients and funders. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Collective Impact, this manager develops and implements strategies that advance NCCS’s brand, thought leadership, marketing, and digital communications. Additionally, they support the effective planning and delivery of large-scale (in-person or virtual) meetings, events, and conferences.


Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 (Annually)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


Marketing

  • Build a marketing funnel: set goals for each phase; segment, target, test content marketing and adjust; and track leads from awareness of NCCS through committed contracts
  • Map universe of potential clients and test segmentation and targeting of thought leadership strategies
  • Assist in fundraising, RFP responses, reporting, and funder engagement
  • Actively identify and coordinate responses to strategic opportunities to promote community schools and capacity building


Communications

  • Maintain NCCS’s communication platforms, including the website, contact management system, social media accounts, etc.
  • Oversee brand management (including designing/maintaining document templates) and ensure staff understanding of and adherence to brand guidelines
  • Collaborate with NCCS Deputy Director and NCCS Client Engagement Associates to develop visuals and messaging that enhance existing and new technical assistance content
  • Liaise with the marketing/communications and public policy staff at Children’s Aid on NCCS’s public relations (PR) activities
  • Write copy, secure assets, and direct internal and external designers in order to build thought leadership pieces, newsletters, social media, email, PR, and partnerships
  • Own and share communications calendar that takes into account all contacts across the organization
  • Respond to regular requests for information from internal and external stakeholders
  • Assess communication effectiveness through data analysis, surveys, and interviews


Events

  • Actively participate in the conceptualization and design of major NCCS conferences and events (e.g., Boot Camp and Fundamentals), and take a lead role in their marketing and communications – from inception through promotion, media coverage, and audience follow-up


 General

  • Other duties as assigned for the success of the program

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 4 years applicable experience, preferably working in marketing, communications, or related positions in nonprofit sector
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or a related field required
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including ability to offer, receive, and respond professionally to feedback on drafts of written documents and other products
  • Excellent writing, editing, and oral presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing a marketing strategy, including integrated communications using print, email, web, and social media
  • Experience working with internal or external design resources
  • Experience with Google Analytics, marketing automation software (Marketo, Hubspot, Pardot, etc.), social media, and design tools such as WordPress are necessary; ability to layout and edit graphics via software such as InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator a plus
  • Bias towards transparency and accountability, with a high standard of quality
