Grants Manager, Southern Region (Atlanta or Houston preferred)

Position Description:

We are searching for an experienced, methodical, and strategic Grants Manager to serve as a key member of our Development team in managing the Institutional Giving strategy for Juma’s Atlanta and Houston sites. Duties for the Grants Manager will include managing overall grant efforts, conducting prospect research, optimizing the grant administration process, overseeing and owning funder relationships, preparing progress reports, ensuring compliance with grant regulations, reviewing grant proposals, managing grant databases (Salesforce), and engaging with donor agencies. Reporting to the Associate Director of Institutional Giving, the Grant Manager will work closely with the Houston and Atlanta teams and across departments to collect supporting information for grant proposals and reports, and maintain key resources such as up-to-date research and grant language.

The ideal candidate for this role should have superior organizational skills, project management experience, leadership qualities, professional communication skills, and thrive in a collaborative team environment. The Grants Manager should reinforce relationships with funders, ensuring proactive outreach and communication about our program and organization, timely submission of proposals and reports, and alignment of our mission and vision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Grant Writing

• In close collaboration with the Juma’s Development team and program staff, create compelling Letter of Interest (LOI), grant proposals and reports for Juma Atlanta and Houston by:
• Writing and assembling most or all sections of a grant proposal, with key input from the Program team;
• Coordinating with internal departments (Development, Finance, Learning and Evaluation, Programs) to solicit timely and appropriate input and review of grant proposals/reports prior to submission deadlines;

Prospect Research & Stewardship

• Build and maintain Southern region pipeline through research, proactive outreach, regular meetings and conferences.
• Maintain records of institutional donor relationships and keep track of information, interactions, contacts, submissions, and grant award notices in Salesforce.

Data 

• Work with Chief Programs and Grants Officer (CPGO), Juma sites, and the Learning and Evaluation team to monitor and update program outcomes every quarter.
• Manage the development database (Salesforce CRM) and work with the Data Coordinator to ensure that Salesforce is up-to-date and accurate.

Other

• Assist with production of department collateral such as the Annual Report.
• Assist development department by writing grants and funder communications for other sites as needed. 
• Support general fundraising activities, as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum of two years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the nonprofit philanthropic, private or public sector
• Proven track record in managing relationships with corporations, foundations and governments
• Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications for fundraising.
• Ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials.
• Experience and credibility when presenting materials to external audiences
• Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
• Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills 
• Self-starter, motivated, and able to take initiative in all situations; ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and inclusive environment
• Critical thinker with the ability to assess a situation, identify connections and gaps, synthesize information, and identify concrete actions for implementation
