Outreach Coordinator Position in the K12 Climate Essentials Program   

At Presidio Graduate School, our focus on sustainability and our mission and vision have led us to identify a keen need: effective climate change education strategies for K12 classroom instructors. Educating the next generation about climate change will be key to success in grappling with this issue, and doing so as rapidly as possible is essential. To address this need, we’ve developed an online professional development program that will empower K12 educators to incorporate climate change education into their classrooms swiftly, easily, and effectively.  

We believe that all elementary, middle, and high school students in all subject areas must be climate science literate, and our vision is that all students will leave high school with essential knowledge of climate change and what they can do to address it in a positive, hopeful manner.   

PGS is launching an exciting new program entitled K-12 Climate Essentials: Educating America’s Youth aimed at empowering teachers of all grade levels and in every subject area to confidently and competently teach climate change.  

To aid in informing and recruiting teachers, the program has an open position for an Outreach Coordinator.  

The Outreach Coordinator is a hands-on leader who can develop, manage, and execute a grassroots outreach program to inform and motivate teachers to enroll in the K12 Climate Essentials program.  

The Outreach Coordinator Coaches are expected to invest about 20 hours per week. The initial contract for this role is active January-March, 2021.    

This role reports to the Associate Director of Program Expansion.  

Outreach Coordinator Responsibilities 

The Outreach Coordinator will:  

• Contribute to outreach strategies and opportunities  
• Execute the grassroots outreach plan  
• Contact state Departments of Education, educational organizations, unions, school districts, training coordinators, teachers, etc. to inform them about the program by calling leads, writing compelling emails, and designing effective collateral for outreach and promotion 
• Work through the Marketing approval process to ensure all communique is on brand  
• Respond to all inquiries with the intent of doing the work to convert them into students  
• Research additional opportunities for district approval and promotion (i.e., Rutger’s Clearinghouse, competitions, conferences)  
• Meet established outreach goals 
• Attend weekly program meetings and provide weekly progress updates  
• Work with additional recruitment resources and personnel  

Minimum Qualifications 

• Sales and outreach experience  
• Strong communicator in verbal and written form  
• Broad understanding of the education field and the teacher professional development field, background in the K12 education field a bonus  
• Enthusiastic about climate education  
• Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products  
• Excellent time management and organizational skills  

Compensation 

Starting hourly rate is $20 per hour with the potential for additional compensation based on experience.
