Description

Summary: Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles (JBBBSLA), celebrating over 100 years of service in the greater Los Angeles area, is seeking a Family Outreach Coordinator to join a forward-thinking and innovative agency that continues to expand its presence in the Los Angeles area. JBBBSLA owns and operates Camp Bob Waldorf on the Max Straus Campus. Under the supervision of the Director of Community Engagement, the Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting Jewish families and teens to our mentoring program.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

 

Family Outreach:

o  Work with the outreach team to implement community engagement strategies to advance awareness of and participation in our one-to-one mentoring program for Jewish families

o  Establish and maintain relationships with partner agencies, focusing on Jewish organizations/institutions, whose constituents can benefit from mentoring

o  Develop a Parent Ambassador Committee and maintain strong communication with parents and guardians to assist us in recruiting additional families

o  Represent the work of JBBBSLA to groups through regular speaking engagements and attendance at community events

o  Work with the Director of Community Engagement and program staff to identify and pursue a variety of recruitment and marketing strategies

o  Coordinate recruitment event logistics, oversee event registration and perform all event follow-up

 

 

Teen Outreach:

  • Maintain relationships with teens in current programs (camp, mentoring, teen workshops)
  • Ongoing presentations and outreach to Jewish teens at schools, youth groups and other community organizations
  • Provide administrative and programmatic support to the Director of Community Engagement for teen-related programs

 

Knowledge and Skills:

 

o  Bachelor's degree required

o  Proven success in building and maintaining relationships and partnerships

o  Passion for JBBBSLA mission and familiarity with Los Angeles Jewish Community

o  Experience in program coordination

o  Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups

o  Self-motivated creative thinker who thinks outside of the box with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
