Organization Description: The Energy Efficiency Alliance (EEA), a 501(c)3 non-profit focused on increasing the market for energy efficiency in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.                       

The Energy Efficiency Alliance has two sister 501(c)6 trade associations: the Keystone Energy Efficiency Alliance (KEEA), and the Energy Efficiency Alliance of New Jersey (EEA-NJ), which engage in direct advocacy with legislators.Our membership, comprised of seventy-five companies, ranges from small local firms to large multinational corporations and operates across the value chain of energy efficiency. We engage our membership and key policymakers in support of an industry that accounts for more than 100,000 jobs across our two states. The policy we promote at the state and local level expands the market for energy efficiency. EEA-NJ & KEEA’ s ambitious energy policy agenda seeks to modernize utilities and energy markets in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We have shown tremendous entrepreneurial growth over the last several years and now seek additional team members to help us take the next steps.


Position Summary: EEA seeks a full-time Communications & Events Manager to create and execute a communications strategy that raises the profile of the organization, advances our policy objectives, and motivates diverse stakeholders to action. The Communications & Events Manager collaborates closely with team members and manages all public-facing platforms—including websites, social media, and live events—to showcase the work of the organization and value of the wider energy efficiency industry. Successful candidates must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple, frequently-shifting priorities.

Responsibilities:  

Communications 

  • Collaborate with staff to develop strategic communications campaigns that advance policy and programming goals and raise the organization’s profile
  • Craft key messaging points that will engage a range of audiences: business members, elected officials, and a broad network of clean energy stakeholders 
  • Manage and monitor a suite of websites, updating frequently with narrative-driven content
  • Support the work of all team members by producing materials to engage and inform elected officials, business members, and our wider network; materials to include compelling action alerts, landing pages, infographics, educational events and webinars, and the monthly newsletter
  • Highlight energy efficiency success stories via social media, letters to the editor, op-eds, and press releases
  • Establish and nurture meaningful long-term relationships with media contacts, business member contacts, and clean energy stakeholders
  • Develop quarterly plans for communications work with specific, measurable metrics


Events 

  • With staff input, plan, promote, and facilitate events that advance organizational goals and satisfy grant deliverables
  • Directly manage all aspects of the conference planning process, including facilitating the planning committee, finalizing session/speaker content, handling conference site logistics, managing budget, implementing marketing strategy, and managing day-of execution


Qualifications: 

  • Exceptional communications skills, emphasizing content creation: ability to translate technical or policy documents into memorable, accessible, narrative-based content—both written and visual—that motivates stakeholders to action
  • Project management: ability to create detailed plans for large projects, set and hit reasonable benchmarks, create and adhere to budgets, and communicate with stakeholders along the way
  • Web and graphic design: proficiency in Wordpress and Photoshop (or comparable) mandatory, InDesign preferred
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and SEO best practices
  • Experience in or willingness to learn event planning, promotion, and operations
  • Outreach and advocacy: excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and also in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong research skills
  • Familiarity with CRM preferred
  • Experience in and knowledge of the energy field preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and to operate in an agile manner in response to occasional fast-tracked events

Salary

$50,000 - $60,000
