Summary

The Data Analyst/Grant Reporting position is responsible for collecting data, preparing grant reports and tracking grant payments for a one-year program starting June 1, 2021.

The Organization

The mission of the Asian Pacific Islander Small Business Program (API SBP) is to assist the development of small- and micro-businesses in Los Angeles, especially those of low income immigrants, with particular focus on Cambodia Town, Chinatown (and parts of the San Gabriel Valley), Historic Filipinotown, Koreatown, Little Tokyo and Thai Town business communities.

API SBP, established in 1999, is a collaboration of Chinatown Service Center, Koreatown Youth and Community Center, Little Tokyo Service Center CDC, Search to Involve Pilipino Americans, Thai Community Development Center and United Cambodian Community.

Position: Data Analyst/Grant Reporting

Main responsibilities:

  • Primary duties are related to collecting data from small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs participating in a new training program, with funding for the program available through May 2022.
  • Collect data on trainee attendance, performance on training tests, and satisfactory completion of training programs, and provide monthly reports on these activities.
  • Collect training materials for reporting purposes.
  • Track trainee applications for funding and selection of trainees for funding.
  • Collect required documents from selected trainees and prepare check requests for funding.
  • Confirm use of funds by trainees on allowable uses.
  • Track project expenses, and prepare reports on a monthly basis.
  • Collect other program and client data, and prepare monthly, quarterly and/or annual reports as required by funders.

Requirements

The candidate must be able to work independently as well as in a team. He/she must be a self-starter and always be conscious of what would be best for the agency and its clients as a whole. Candidate must possess excellent writing, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with a wide range of culturally diverse people including staff, clients, media, funders, elected officials and others.

Qualifications

Requirements: Undergraduate degree and minimum 2 years’ work experience in a professional environment; strong writing skills; dedication to micro and small business development/community economic development; strong interpersonal skills; strong computer skills, MS Office (Word & Excel), data management, etc.

•    Dedication to micro and small business development / community economic development

•    Experience or familiarity with micro-enterprise and/or small business technical assistance

•     General business knowledge, familiarity with operating a small business

•     Undergraduate degree and minimum 3 years of work experience in a professional environment

•     Strong communication skills – writing, public speaking, outreach and marketing

•     Strong computer software skills: MS Office (Word & Excel), data management, Constant Contact, Weebly, etc.; ability to create flyers

•    Valid CA driver’s license, proof of auto insurance & proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

•    Ability to work remotely

Tenure

This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week, for one year only.

Compensation

Up to $24 per hour depending on experience.
