Who We Are: The South Asian Council for Social Services (SACSS) was founded in 2000 in response to critical issues regarding barriers to social services faced by New York City’s fast-growing South Asian community. We assist individuals and families in the areas of healthcare access and awareness, connect people to various benefits, provide senior support services, promote civic engagement, and advocate for social justice. We also provide basic and advanced English and computer courses. SACSS runs the first South Asian food pantry in New York, since the pandemic we have been delivering groceries and hot vegetarian meals all over Queens. All our programs are free and are provided by culturally competent staff members who speak 12 South Asian languages, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Haka, Malay, and Creole. We serve over 30,000 clients each year.  

Job Description: SACSS is seeking a full-time Program Manager - Operations who will provide support to our legal information clinic, oversee a range of administrative functions related to human resource management and provide administrative support to the Executive Director in the everyday functioning of SACSS.

Responsibilities

Legal Information Clinic: 

Facilitate SACSS' bi-weekly legal information clinics. This would involve collaborating and coordinating with our partner agency that will be conducting the legal information clinic. 

Collaborate with SACSS case managers and social workers to ensure client enrollment and retention for legal information clinic 

Develop and produce reports and outreach flyers for legal information clinic 

Report program activities to program director

Human Resource Management: 

Maintaining knowledge of and ensuring compliance with employment-related laws and regulations.

Maintain the HR Manual, regularly updating the manual as workplace policies and laws evolve

Supporting and responding to routine questions regarding human resources policies and procedures

Conduct onboarding of new employees and explain benefits package

Work with SACSS leadership in all recruitment efforts by creating job listings, identifying best sites to post, maintain job postings and consulting on candidates

Coordinate with hiring managers in all recruitment efforts by identifying best sites to post, maintaining job postings and consulting on quality of candidates

Executive Assistance to ED

Assist the ED with managing their schedule, coordinate meetings, travel, departmental meetings, etc. 

Attend and participate in meetings, activities, and events, take notes and follow-up as needed. 

Draft and prepare general correspondence, expense reports, memos, charts, tables, graphs, business plans, presentations, etc.

Act as project manager for special fundraising projects which may include the planning and coordination of presentations, disseminating information, or coordinating organization-wide activities. 

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with at least 2 years of work/internship experience in human services field

Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, and handle situations with tact and maturity

Commitment to SACSS' mission and passion for immigrant rights

Understanding of Asian Pacific American communities and/or non-profit organizations

Excellent oral and written communication skills; persuasive communicator with a keen eye for detail

Ability to work with diverse staff and flexibility to work on multiple tasks under pressure.

Proficient with Microsoft Office

Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time-sensitive documents and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment


Salary will be commensurate with experience
