The Center for Court Innovation is a non-profit organization that works to create a more effective and humane justice system by performing original research and helping launch reforms around the world. The Center creates operating projects that have been documented to reduce the use of jail and prison, assist victims of crime, and strengthen communities. Nationally and internationally, the Center performs original research and provides consulting services to justice innovators.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Director of Technology will oversee all Technology Department functions including the department’s analysis of complex business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommend technical solutions. The Director of Technology plans, organizes and manages the work of professional and support information technology staff; coordinates and manages the information technology related activities and technology needs of the Center and its clients; plans for future technology needs; establishes, monitors and controls projects and schedules to meet goals and objectives; understands and explains complex information technology systems and issues; communicates effectively, orally and in writing; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others, including stakeholders, staff, managers and vendors; analyzes complex problems and exercises sound judgment to adopt effective courses of action.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Provide leadership, management, and coaching within the Technology Department;
· Establish and maintain the strategic outlook for the department;
· Identify the technology-related training needs of team members and Center staff;
· Communicate at all levels of the organization, building successful partnerships with key stakeholders and partners;
· Maintain the department’s budget;
· Identify funding opportunities and drafting proposals to underwrite new initiatives; and
· Monitor, prioritize, and allocate resources for the organization’s technology-related projects.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Business, or a related field, have at least seven (7) years of related work experience and a minimum of four (4) years of management/supervisory or similar experience (e.g. complex project management/oversight). The candidate must have excellent communication skills, be diplomatic and decisive, take initiative and inspire creativity. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader in the technology arena, with a proven record of being a catalyst for change, and will have management experience in the private and/or public sector. The successful candidate will place a high value on professional development, set high expectations and standards, and consistently hold team members accountable.
