OPPORTUNITY

Green Dot is seeking an Area Operations & Finance Manager to oversee operations, budgeting, and forecasting for a cluster of schools in and around Los Angeles. We need a problem solver who will own operational challenges so that principals and teachers can focus on educating students. There is always room for system improvements, and we want someone who will not just put out fires, but also identify ways to make operations more efficient and improve the effectiveness of our school services. This is a fast-paced, on-the-ground position, requiring strong analytical and communication skills. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the “COO” for a number of schools, typically five to seven

Support Area Superintendent in running day-to-day, non-academic operations (e.g. finance, plant, IT, security, transportation)

Assist principals in managing school budgets, analyzing year-to-date results, and forecasting end-of-year performance

Serve as liaison between Home Office departments and schools to ensure implementation of best practices in school operations

Develop and implement trainings for school site staff to maximize operational efficiency

Lead special projects (e.g. school moving from temporary to permanent facility; improving attendance across schools)

Assist the VP of Operations and Finance and management team on special projects and initiatives as necessary

 

This job operates in a professional office environment, is largely sedentary, and utilizes typical office equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.). Normal business hours are 8:30am – 5:30pm, Monday-Friday (although these hours may vary and may require occasional evening and weekend work based on organizational needs). Minimal or no travel required, other than visits to local school sites (as needed).

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred

4+ years of experience in a fast-paced, highly analytical professional environment. Ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience managing school operations; charter school experience highly preferred

2+ years of experience managing others in a professional environment

Strong financial acumen

Experience designing and facilitating differentiated professional development sessions

Ability to build collaborative, coordinated, and supportive relationships

Ability to impact and influence stakeholders both inside and outside of the organization

Can demonstrate flexibility and innovation when faced with ambiguity

Can demonstrates creative problem solving skills

Tenacity and a willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve our mission
