HOURS:

Monday through Friday, 12:00pm to 8:00pm

 

OBJECTIVE:

Provide key support to Rosie’s Place guests while supporting and validating their sense of self-worth and responsibility. Ensure that guests are seen in a timely manner by supervising and assigning advocacy roles according to the day’s challenges. Support the Advocacy Team in achieving its’ mission, to provide capable, effective and compassionate advocacy and support to all women who request it.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Oversee the Advocacy Triage function from 12pm-7:30pm, and assign advocates to different advocacy roles depending on the needs of the day.

·        Monitor the flow of guest traffic and ensure that guests are seen in a timely fashion.

·        Supervise Part-Time Evening Advocates, interns and volunteers.

·        Act as the “Manager On Duty” from 4 to 8 p.m., acting as a resource to all evening staff.

·        Train and monitor evening advocacy staff on database entry. Conduct regular audits to ensure proper usage. Run regular database reports.

·        Communicate with external providers any scheduling or policy changes within Rosie’s Place Advocacy program.

·        Supervise and maintain evening advocate petty cash log and funds, Goodwill vouchers, Charlie tickets and taxi vouchers.

·        Sign purchase orders for Advocacy budget items. Work with Advocacy Manager to develop annual program goals.

·        Support and assist guests by helping them meet the needs that they individually identify. 

·        Maintain current referrals and update resource lists.

·        Maintain high level of knowledge about current guests.

·        Maintain guests’ confidentiality.

·        Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Advocacy Manager.

·        Report directly to Advocacy Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Bilingual preferred but not required.

·        Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field.

·        Minimum two years’ experience in counseling and/or advocacy. 

·        Minimum of two years Supervisory experience.

·        Understanding of and commitment to addressing issues affecting poor and homeless women.

·        Ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds.

  • Proven ability to work flexibly and creatively within a highly stressful and challenging environment.
  • Experience with crisis intervention regarding homelessness, mental health, and substance abuse
  • Strong communication and computer skills 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:


·        Job is performed in an office environment.

·        Day-to-day work includes paper and computer work as well as interaction with staff, guests, and volunteers.

·        Periods of frequent, sitting, walking; moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly moving from one work site to another.

 

POSITON SALARY: $45,000-$50,000
