This is an exciting opportunity to serve as part of the senior leadership team, driving organizational strategy and execution. Reporting to the CEO and Marketing Director, the Communications Director will develop and execute a strategic marketing and communications plan to elevate LE&RN’s global presence and mission.

The start date for this position is flexible.

Primary responsibilities include Communications and Marketing Strategy

  • In collaboration with staff, design and develop effective communications, including but not limited to, promotional and marketing literature, brochures for events and programs, informational letters and e-communications, fundraising solicitations
  • Manage external PR process, including promoting the breadth of programming opportunities, raising profile of LE&RN in the media, and coordinating general press releases to the mass media
  • Develop, enhance, and manage social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, and all other outlets
  • Manage aspects of the LE&RN website
  • Coordinate the writing, editing and distribution via Mailchimp of monthly newsletter and high-volume of single topic eblasts each month
  • Establish, execute, and maintain communications strategy, policies, and procedures; ensure quality control to maintain consistent image and branding for all communications
  • Ensure that all programs and events are publicized in a timely manner through the development and management of a comprehensive editorial calendar
  • Keep abreast of new communications technologies, including social media, and make recommendations to improve effectiveness of messaging through technology or other means
  • Proficiency in SEO (search engine optimization) and SMO (social media optimization)

Qualifications

  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with an ability to write content that is actionable, informative, entertaining, and original
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team and to handle multiple projects, work well under pressure, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on schedule
  • Ability to think creatively and brainstorm ideas
  • Skilled in producing social media and other promotional collateral in collaboration with Design Director
  • Proficiency in SEO (search engine optimization) and SMO (social media optimization) a plus
  • Experience working with a medical non-profit organization is a plus
  • Beyond remedial knowledge within the lymphatic disease community is also a plus

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BA or BS in Communications, Marketing, or related degree
  • 5+ years’ experience in communications, marketing, or other related experience
