Manager, Finance

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Manager of Finance will lead budget planning and management process for City Year Chicago and establish financial management processes and internal controls to ensure the site’s overall financial health through expense forecasting and revenue management. The ideal candidate will provide effective oversight and management of CYC’s financial processes in compliance with national organizational standards and requirements, working in close collaboration with CY National Headquarters. They will drive the management of the site’s budget, revenue and expenses by establishing internal controls, timely analysis, and monitoring systems.

Responsibilities

Budget and Revenue Management

• Facilitate the annual budget planning process under the guidance of the Chief of Staff and in consultation with Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team, including developing processes for crafting department budgets
• Develop and disseminate budget management and review protocols to key decision-makers in the organization
• Effectively forecast revenues and expenses to reconcile actuals with budget
• Analyze financial statements and prepare reports for Executive Director and Board Members
• Monitor site’s financial progress, troubleshoot, and make recommendations to Executive Director, as appropriate

Financial Monitoring

• Design and manage spend plans to ensure efficient and effective expense tracking and management across all site departments
• Ensure timely processing of accounts payable and receivable requests (including purchase orders and p-card expense management) for timely invoicing and payment
• Collaborate with development team to align operating budget with quarterly revenue goals and develop a monitoring system to ensure timely follow-through and collection of pledged revenue and gift processing
• Work to ensure maximum value for all purchases and manage vendor and contract logistics for City Year Chicago
• Develop and maintain appropriate audit procedures and internal controls to ensure the integrity of all financial systems and results
• Maintain accurate documentation and submission of all required site financial documents to City Year's National Headquarters; work closely with HQ Finance team in tracking and reporting expenses
• Review shared service reports and conduct financial analyses to inform strategic decision-making and understanding of CY Chicago's financial health

Organizational Initiatives & Site Support

• Work closely with Site departments to understand priorities and goals and develop effective spend plans to support successful execution of initiatives
• Support site-wide operational functions and programmatic events, including but not limited to, MLK day of service, and cross-departmental committees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field required
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in budget analysis, forecasting, budget management, etc.
• Excellent Excel skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office programs.
• Results-oriented individual with excellent analytical and organizational skills
