General Description:

The Coordinator, Member Communities provides administrative and logistical support to Special Interest Groups (SIG) and related work. Works under the direction of Sr. Manager, Member

Communities. The position supports the increase of member engagement and professional

opportunities with SIGs.

Key Responsibilities:

SIG Management:

· Maintains, tracks, and updates SIG member information, including rosters and other relevant lists, in AMS to ensure accuracy and completeness.

·  Assists with communications and activities that drive attendance at SIG events.

· Schedules SIG leadership and subcommittee calls. Assists as needed with meeting summaries to be sent to SIG steering committees.

·  Coordinates SIG ePoster presentation processes for TLM.

·  Collaborates with other departments (such as Marketing/Communications, IT, and Education and Meetings) and prepares SIG-related materials for proper dissemination.

·  Provides administrative and program support to the SIG steering committees and subcommittees.

· Assists in drafting and/or compiling meeting materials for meetings and conference calls.

Other Responsibilities

· Participates in SIG Steering Committee and AASLD Committee meetings and assists with the completion of tasks as required,

·  Attends professional association meetings as appropriate,

Other duties as assigned by Sr. Manager, Member Communities.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, or other related field equivalent work experience. Some positions may only require an associate degree/technical diploma, or other related field equivalent work experience.

• The job requires 1-3 years of experience in a similar role.

Skills Needed in Position

•  Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks, and adjust workload to meet shifting priorities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and web-based services

• Overall comfort with technology and working in and learning different platforms.

• Communication skills: Skill in clearly and effectively communicating ideas verbally and in writing, including the ability to edit the writing of others. Commitment to keeping stakeholders informed.

• Planning and organizing skills: Skill in determining priorities, developing plans to assure the achievement of objectives, and allocating time and resources effectively.

• Customer service skills: Skill in providing the highest quality products and services that meet or exceed the needs and requirements of internal and external customers.

• Interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence: Skill in building and maintaining effective interpersonal and team relationships with a diverse network of colleagues inside and outside the organization, and with other relevant individuals with whom the organization works (members, the media, other organizations, funders etc.)

Paid Time Off (PTO)

PTO accrues at the following rates:

Years 1, 2, and 3 - 30 days annually

Year 4 – the length of employment - 32 days annually

Year 10 – the length of employment - 34 days annually

Year 15 – the length of employment - 36 days annually

HOLIDAY LEAVE

AASLD observes the holidays designated by the Federal Government. In addition, the AASLD office will close the day following Christmas and will not reopen until the first business day following New Year’s Day.

DENTAL & VISION INSURANCE

AASLD’s dental and vision plans are administered, Guardian. The dental plan is Preferred Provider Plan (PPO). AASLD pays 100% of the employee-only premiums. Vision coverage is a complimentary benefit.

HEALTH INSURANCE

AASLD provides health insurance for all regular full-time employees. Currently, the Association offers health coverage through CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield, a Preferred Provider Plan (PPO), and several Health Maintenance Organization Plans (HMO). AASLD pays up to $655 of the premium for employee-only and up to $800 for employees and dependents. Premiums exceeding $655 and/or $800 are deducted pre-tax from employee paycheck through AASLD’s Section 125 Cafeteria.

SECTION 125 CAFETERIA PLAN

The Association sponsors a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan administered through the PayChex payroll service.

LIFE & ACCIDENTAL DEATH & DISMEMBERMENT (AD&D) INSURANCE

AASLD pays 100% of the eligible employee’s premium. The life and AD&D insurance plans are administered by Guardian.

LONG-TERM & SHORT-TERM DISABILITY

AASLD pays 100% of the eligible employee’s premium. The life and AD&D insurance plans are administered by Guardian.

VOLUNTARY BENEFITS

AASLD offers employees voluntary life, critical illness, and accident insurance. These benefits are available on the day of hire. These benefits are also administered by Guardian.

RETIREMENT/PENSION PLAN

All AASLD employees may contribute to their AASLD 403(b) retirement plan upon enrollment. Employee contributions are through salary reduction. Salary is taxed after the contribution is deducted. For full-time employees, AASLD contributes 10% of the employee’s current salary to the retirement plan effective the month following the one-year anniversary date. 

BEREAVEMENT LEAVE

AASLD grants each employee 5-days of leave for bereavement purposes due to the death of someone in the immediate family. 

STAFF PARKING AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION BENEFITS

AASLD offers complimentary parking for onsite staff. Commuters utilizing public transportation are eligible to receive comparable reimbursement toward their SmarTrip benefits. 1001 N. Fairfax’s property management company offers shuttle bus service to the Braddock and King Street Metro stations. This service is available to tenants of the benefit at no charge. AASLD staff members are currently working remotely. 

EXERCISE/FITNESS FACILITY

The exercise facility is located at 1001 N. Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA.

PROFESSIONAL SOCIETIES, SEMINARS, AND CLASSES

AASLD will pay the annual fees for professional societies that provide educational programs specific to the duties of the Chief Executive Officer and approved staff. In addition, AASLD will cover fees for educational seminars and/or classes that will improve the developmental skills, knowledge, and ability of staff.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT

ASLD encourages staff to continue their education and further enhance their knowledge.

RECRUITMENT BONUS

Should an employee be hired from a staff referral, the referring staff member will receive a $300 bonus following the completion of the referral’s first six (6) months of employment.
