Higher Achievement is hiring for the position of Manager of Alumni Support. This position will be remote during the Covid-19 pandemic, and must be able to work out of a Higher Achievement office in Baltimore, DC, or Richmond once offices re-open.

Summary of Role: The Manager of Alumni Support is responsible for the design and implementation of a 9th grade transition program and other high school educational supports for Higher Achievement Alumni Scholars. Ninth grade is a critical year for setting the course to high school graduation. How smoothly students make this transition is strongly related to not only the likelihood of finishing high school but also the odds of staying in college until graduation. The Manager of Alumni will identify resources, track scholar outcomes, and design systems of support to ensure Higher Achievement alumni are well-positioned to graduate high school and find further success in college. The Manager of Alumni Support will report to the Director of High School Placement and Alumni.

Our Team

Talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. Higher Achievement works to close the achievement gap for motivated, underserved students from low-income communities with rigorous mentoring, individualized attention, and comprehensive academic support.

Founded in 1975 in Washington, DC, Higher Achievement has changed the lives of more than 10,000 young people in the mid-Atlantic. We intervene during the critical transition to middle school and beyond by providing 5th-8th grade students with academically rigorous programs, social-emotional learning, and opportunities to build relationships with caring role models. As 8th graders prepare to graduate from our program, we help them successfully transition to advanced high school programs that keep students on track for college. As a result, 95% of Higher Achievement scholars graduate high school on time.

We currently host programs in Washington, DC, Alexandria and Richmond, VA, and Baltimore and Prince George’s County, MD. Higher Achievement’s award-winning model is proven by leading research and demonstrated student success.
