The Digital Communications Coordinator is responsible for assisting AVP’s Director of Communications in the key functions of a nonprofit communications department. The Coordinator works closely with the Director of Communications to develop creative, strategic messaging, branding and design that help make the work of the organization compelling to the audiences we serve. The Director of Communications will work with Digital Communications Coordinator to prioritize project focus, which will include: social media management, website management, press engagement, blog writing, metrics reporting & analysis, and administrative duties. This position is 70% communications, press engagement and 30% digital.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage AVP's website updates and changes
Maintain the agency’s ongoing social media editorial calendar and communications requests across departments
Track LGBTQ related hate violence headlines in the news
Collaborate with Director of Communications on Digital Campaigns
Write press releases and pitch stories to journalists
Develop and maintain relationships with editors and journalists
Write In Memoriam, Action Briefs, and other blog posts
Manage organization’s email lists in mail chimp
Track and analyze departmental metrics
Prepare departmental reporting information and dashboards
Other duties as assigned

Demonstrated commitment to anti-oppression work, where oppression is a system that gives some people, groups, or communities power over other people, groups, or communities because of their identities and experiences.
The ability to adjust to new situations, remain flexible, and willingness to take the initiative to attempt unfamiliar tasks are all necessary
1-2 years of experience with public relations work
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Power Point
Experience with Social Media platforms such including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
Experience with websites (WordPress), content management systems, and online fundraising tools
Ability to write and speak clearly, creatively, as well as strong editing and proofreading skills
Experience with graphic design or video editing.
Fluency in Spanish.
