Director, Sales

The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), the national professional association established in 1917 to represent the interests and concerns of occupational therapy practitioners and students of occupational therapy, is seeking an Director, Sales to add to their team.             

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for developing and executing sales strategies to achieve growth targets. This position is directly responsible for architecting and optimizing the sales team and process to win new business and grow existing business while providing strategic insights and direction into the product portfolio.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES

§ Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve organization’s sales targets and expand client base.

§ Lead the development of the sales plan. Prepare forecasts and KPI reporting for use in organizational planning, financial forecasting, budget setting and strategic planning.

§ Establish inbound lead requirements to meet the organization’s sales objectives.

§ Develop process for effectively managing the sale pipeline and process for pipeline and cultivation plans.

§ Establish and foster partnerships and relationships with key clients.

§ Continuously evaluate the marketplace and customer needs for new opportunities to enhance the product portfolio and drive value.

§ Work collaboratively with the marketing team and across the organization to develop the product portfolio and manage deliverables.

§ Proactively and effectively address components of workplace culture that impede organizational and individual effectiveness in a manner consistent with the organization’s values.

§ Foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, accountability, trust, recognition and results among staff at all levels consistent with the short and long-term objectives of the organization.

§ Provide active, intentional leadership to the management function at AOTA by providing timely positive and constructive feedback; monitoring the accomplishment of team and individual goals and objectives; fostering an environment of continuous learning consistent with the needs of the organization, team and the individual staff member.

§ Provide a regular evaluation of the team structure, plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) for individuals.

§ Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

§ Bachelor's degree in relevant  or related professional field (business development, sales) with a minimum of 6-10 years relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree from an accredited institution in business, business development, or related field highly desired.

§ Association Management experience a plus.

§ Professional certification and/or American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential is a plus.

§ Ability to collaborate effectively by building relationships across all departments and levels.

§ Ability to think and plan strategically as well as manage execution of projects.

§ Ability to balance multiple projects, prioritize work, problem solve, and deliver results.

§ Highly analytical and critical thinker with demonstrated success using data to drive decisions.

§ Excellent written and oral communication skills to develop, deliver, and receive clear messages across all channels and with all audiences.

§ Proven success as a supervisor, coach, and developer of staff.

§ The position exercises significant influence upon the actions or operations of others and has a major impact on the activities of AOTA. 

§ Requires significant problem solving, judgment and innovative thinking to accomplish very broadly defined and/or technically complex responsibilities of the position. Receives policy direction to implement and/or develop policies, programs, and procedures for the department.

·        Customer/Member Focus: Makes internal and external colleagues/customers/members and their needs a primary focus of one’s actions; shows interest in and understanding of the needs and expectations of internal and external customers (including direct reports and supervisors and management); gains customer/member trust and respect; meets or exceeds customer/member expectations.

·        Technologies: Keeps up with the evolution of technology as needed to address business needs.
