Yoga Therapy Teaching Clinic Supervisor

Maryland University of Integrative Health is currently conducting a search for teaching clinic supervisors to facilitate and support the learning experience of students in the clinical phase of the Master of Science in Yoga Therapy program. The primary role of the supervisors is to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care in the Natural Care Center (NCC) and other clinical sites. As a member of the instructional community, the supervisor assists clinical faculty in creating a supportive learning environment for the yoga therapy student practitioner.

The position is part–time and consists of a mixture of direct supervision in the NCC, telehealth supervision, telehealth small group work and off–site at MUIH’s externships. The supervisor will need to attend trainings on MUIH clinical procedures, including use of electronic health record systems, HIPAA, BBP, use of intake forms, assessments, evaluations and processes for clinical supervision. Supervisor schedules are assigned at the beginning of each trimester.

This position is hourly and includes clinical supervision hours and attendance at required meetings.

Essential Functions

• Participate in regular treatment planning and clinic discussion meetings during the clinical experience
• Provide appropriate supervision, mentoring, assessment, progress monitoring and feedback to students during their clinical training
• Collaborative team player
• Ensure that clients receive appropriate treatment support in the NCC, via telehealth or offsite, while allowing student practitioners to have a key voice in treatment design
• Provide direct oversight and guidance for initial patient visits as well as follow up consultations
• Offer support, coaching, and motivation to facilitate students’ successful completion of the clinical experience
• Ensure proper reporting and administration of yoga therapy process
• Model professional demeanor at all times including embodying the yogic principles, yoga therapy clinical skills, and ethical behavior for student practitioners, clinic supervisors and clients in clinic
• Ensure that the policies and procedures of the student teaching clinic are followed at all times
• Make certain the treatment records of student practitioners meet the current standards established for the NCC
• Follow Maryland University of Integrative Health’s policies and procedures regarding vaccinations, health requirements, and occupational safety and health training
• Monitor student progress, identifying potential hurdles and obstacles to growth in a supportive learning environment
• Serve on committees as needed with the community culture in mind
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

Required:

• Knowledge - Degrees and/or certifications
• Master’s degree or higher in a related field
• C-IAYT
• Experience
• Minimum of two years clinical experience in individual and group yoga therapy
• Highly developed teaching, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Professional demeanor

Preferred:

• Working knowledge of the IAYT Educational Standards for the Training of Yoga Therapists
• Superior Practice Management Skills
• Experience providing Yoga Therapy in an Integrative Health setting
