Description

The Landing Place, a program of the Knox County Homeless Coalition, is launching a creative new initiative to provide a range of housing options for youth ages 12 to 20 in Mid Coast Maine. We’re seeking a full-time Shelter Solutions Coordinator to work with an experienced team to design, implement, and oversee a Host Home Program, focused primarily on younger youth (ages 12-17), and an Independent Living Program, focused primarily on older youth (ages 17-20). The Shelter Solutions Coordinator will be actively involved in the day-to-day activities of both shelter programs and will work closely with staff from The Landing Place and Knox County Homeless Coalition to establish and fulfill program goals, develop community relations, supervise personnel, and oversee the recruitment, training, and ongoing support for the youth, families, and community stakeholders involved. This is a leadership position that involves detail-oriented, supervisory, management, and administrative tasks as well as hands-on, community-based responsibilities. This position also requires a passion for working with youth, the ability to calmly and effectively manage challenging scenarios, and familiarity with positive youth development, non-violent communication, crisis intervention, and de-escalation strategies.
