Job Path was established in 1978 by the Vera Institute of Justice to find ways to help people with developmental disabilities move into the workforce, one of the first programs of this kind in the country. What we are looking for: 

Job Path is a $10 million not-for-profit organization with a diverse array of programs and funding sources. We are seeking an experienced, collaborative professional to work with our senior management team to achieve short and long-term financial and programmatic goals. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance and Operations will supervise a staff of five whose duties cover Job Path’s fiscal and administrative functions. The successful candidate will have the ability to manage and ensure the integrity of day-to-day operations while providing the management team and board with “big picture” financial direction and leadership.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Fiscal Responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively with the senior leadership team, identify organizational financial goals that are connected to and align with programmatic goals; facilitate greater understanding of financial mechanisms and operations among program leadership 
  • Manage annual budget process; prepare and analyze monthly budget to actual results; present to board a full-year forecast on a quarterly basis in collaboration with the Board’s finance committee
  • Manage annual audit process to produce financial statements and complete the New York State Consolidated Fiscal Report and other required reports and audits on a timely basis
  • Identify organizational financial goals and ensure that they align with programmatic goals
  • Maintain the General Ledger 
  • Oversee timely and compliant billing for Medicaid services and grants/contracts
  • Manage cash flow; monthly tracking of billing against accounts receivable
  • Prepare supporting financial documents for all private and government grant submissions and report 

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Manage and analyze the existing fiscal, IT, and office management processes
  • Ensure that staff are cross trained to ensure continuity of operations
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to streamline current systems, leverage new information technology, and establish standard operating procedures
  • Ensure that the entire fiscal department is supporting program staff, and that program staff understand how to utilize fiscal functions 
  • Oversee specific projects, such as Job Path’s planned office renovation

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hire, train, develop, and supervise fiscal and administrative employees: billing manager, payroll administrator, staff accountant, IT manager, and office manager
  • Support staff to learn and grow professionally through external trainings
  • Manage performance evaluations

Reports to: Executive Director

Location: At the present time, this is a hybrid remote position, requiring some presence in Job Path’s midtown Manhattan office. Once the public health emergency is over, the job will be office-based with some flexibility.
