The MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning’ Community Innovators Lab (CoLab) seeks a director to lead and build the reach and impact of the Mel King Community Fellows Program. This role will oversee--in partnership with the Just Urban Economies’ director--program execution, including strategic planning, program design/management, and team coordination.

 

Responsibilities:

·        Collaborate with senior leaders to create a five-year strategic plan for the fellowship program, monitoring progress toward goals and executing corrective actions that ensure the program hits benchmarks.

·        Manage the selection, recruitment, and orientation of the fellows, codesigning curriculum, and coordinating across a diverse set of stakeholders to advance programmatic goals.

·        Manage a team of consultants, students, and others to accomplish day-to-day activities.

·        Serve as a primary point of contact for the program.

CoLab is a center for planning and development within DUSP. Its domestic work is anchored through its Just Urban Economies (JUE) Program. The cornerstone of CoLab’s domestic work has been the Mel King Community Fellows Program (MKCF).  

 

Qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s degree.

·        Three years of relevant experience.

·        Training as a facilitator or facilitation experience.

·        Excellent program design, curriculum development, strategic planning, and oral (including public speaking) and written communication skills.

·        Comfort and fluency working with senior-level professionals from a diverse set of organizations/sectors and demonstrated success managing those relationships.

·        Familiarity with concepts and principles of economic democracy and self-determination and with issues related to healthcare transformation, healthcare policy, and/or economic development strategies in healthcare.

·        Experience managing leadership development programs that work with local leaders of color.

·        Adaptability to constantly changing environments.

·        Experience managing teams of at least five people.

·        Commitment to social justice and anti-oppression work.
