Background/Position Summary:

The American Technion Society (ATS) supports visionary education and world-changing impact through the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. Based in New York City, we represent thousands of US donors, alumni and stakeholders who invest in the Technion’s growth and innovation to advance critical research and technologies that serve the State of Israel and the global good. Over more than 75 years, our nationwide supporter network has funded new Technion scholarships, research, labs and facilities that have helped deliver world-changing contributions and extend Technion education to campuses on three continents.

ATS employs a staff of 70 + that work from New York and in regional offices across the United States.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Data, the Manager of Prospect Research will play a strategic role in building a collaborative and centralized prospect management system while simultaneously providing research services and in support of reaching ATS’s ambitious fundraising goals. This newly created role provides an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to significantly shape and contribute to ATS’s future success by building its research capabilities.

The Manager of Prospect Research will work closely with front-line fundraising staff to develop strategies encouraging proactive research and prospect management efforts. He/she will meet regularly with stakeholders to ensure needs are being met and ATS is building a broad-based major gifts pipeline using new technologies and existing resources.

The ideal candidate for this role is a team player with experience in prospect research, is familiar with a broad range of research techniques, and has excellent communication skills. Most importantly, the right person will be someone who is excited by the opportunity to create the critical research infrastructure needed at ATS.

Responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

·      Research Profiles and Wealth Assessments

o  Provide basic research profiles,reports including assessment of wealth and philanthropic interests, wealth ratings, biographical information, etc.

·      Direct Fundraiser Support

o  Work directly with fundraisers on portfolio reviews using data and knowledge to inform decision making.

o  Develop and execute overall strategy to support fundraisers using a data-driven approach to prospect management.

o  Act as a liason between fundraisers and senior leadership with respect to goal setting, metrics and overall tracking.

·      Prospect Review, Allocation and Impact Assessment

o  Undertake analytical efforts to identify opportunities within prospect engagement and inform proactive research activities, including finding and evaluating Alumni.

o  Lead regular prospect review meetings, prioritize and assign qualified prospects to fundraisers.

o  Develop assessment methodology to report on the effectiveness of prospect activity.

·      Other

o  Evaluate resources to ensure that the most effective tools are utilized and manage associated third-party vendors.

o  Use best practices and introduce new industry trends to help identify opportunities and fully leverage ATS database .

o  Monitor publications and on-line news sources; send pertinent information to appropriate staff members.

o  Maintain critical information in in our CRM system, assist in data collection, regular hygiene reviews and the creation of standard operating procedures.

Qualifications/Skills:

o  At least 3+ years experience in development research specifically a major gift fundraising environment required.

o  Experience using online databases, wealth screening and research tools such as LexisNexis, WealthEngine, iWave, etc.required.

o  Experience with Web-based research, SEC and financial documents, and online news retrieval systems required.

o  Knowledge of prospect management best practices with experience in either setting or working within more formalized protocols required.

o  Familiarity with prospect pool building required.

o  Experience in higher education, predictive modeling, interest in data science and information management, advanced Microsoft Office skills and Raiser’s Edge experience preferred.

o  Interest in research and curiosity about people and institutions,

o  Strong written and oral communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.

o  Ability to work effectively with a large, diverse group of stakeholders.

o  Ability to organize and manage a diverse range of assignments and projects with high efficiency, yet thorough attention to detail and follow through.

o  Ability to be proactive in anticipating and seeking out information related to immediate priorities.

o  Ability to use discretion when working with highly confidential information.

Ability to remain collegial while handling multiple projects in a deadline driven environment.

Compensation:

The salary range is $70,000 - $90,000, depending upon prior relevant experience. ATS offers a generous benefits package.
