Communities In Schools of Los Angeles (CISLA) seeks an experienced and passionate leader to join its Programs department during a period of growth. CISLA currently serves students in fifteen Los Angeles public schools. 

The Data and Evaluation Manager is responsible for the design and monitoring of systems, processes, and procedures that allow CISLA to fully implement the Integrated Student Services (ISS) model, using CIS National’s Accreditation standards as a framework. The Data and Evaluation Manager will work closely with CISLA’s Program Leadership team to achieve the organization’s annual data collection and evaluation goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee data collection and tracking mechanisms, continuous quality improvement, and evaluation for CISLA, both internally and externally.
  • Set standards and protocols for data accountability, including data collection & entry, timeliness, quality, validity, and security, in compliance with CIS National requirements
  • Provide monthly reports and dashboards to program department and school sites around program progress, and provide highlights on needs for school and student goals
  • In collaboration with CISLA’s Development team, fulfill grant and fundraising requirements relating to data and evaluation, including preparing and/or providing data reports to CISLA Board, donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain communication with Program Leadership team with ongoing updates on data management, programmatic data reporting timelines, and site staff member needs.
  • Oversee professional development and training for CISLA staff in data management, tracking, improvement, quality standards, and evaluation.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Integrated Student Services (ISS) model, using CIS National’s Accreditation Standards as a framework. 
  • Develop an annual evaluation plan using tools such as surveys, focus groups, and assessments to guide the activities, outputs, and outcomes used by CISLA’s Logic Model in order to share progress and effectiveness.
  • Represent the organization with CIS National on data tracking, continuous quality improvement, and evaluation.
  • With Chief Program Director, provide ongoing analysis and interpretation of data and evidence to ensure that CISLA adjusts its interventions to improve individual student, school, and organization-wide outputs and outcomes.
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and feedback to direct reports and site staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in social science, education, or public policy, and at least 4 years of professional work experience in education, human/social services, and/or non-profit management required. A graduate degree with relevant coursework or continuing education in evaluation, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), information analytics, etc. preferred. 
  • Knowledge and experience with a wide range of community resources, including but not limited to education, child/youth development, and social services. Experience with Los Angeles-area K-12 public schools highly desirable.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including working with quantitative databases and data management software. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate research and analysis to non-technical audiences
  • Experience with data systems, data analytic tools, and data visualization platforms, specifically Microsoft Excel, Tableau, and Python is required. Experience with other tools such as R, SAS, STATA, SQL, etc. is preferred.

  • Ability to supervise others effectively, on both a formal basis (supervisory responsibility and authority) and an informal basis. Consistently demonstrates compliance with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all CIS related information.

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Adjusting or moving objects up to 25 pounds. 
  • Must have the ability to communicate with others to exchange information. 
  • Ability to drive plus the availability of a vehicle to use for getting to and from meetings, other events, and for the occasional transport of others. 
  • Valid California driver's license and the ability to obtain necessary auto insurance for the above purposes.
  • Must be able to observe and hear students, staff, and providers across a wide range of settings and interpret those observations for assessment, research, evaluation, and reporting. Must be able to work occasional evenings, weekends, and/or early mornings to cover work responsibilities.
