The Mission


KIPP LA Public Schools is a non-profit organization that operates free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public charter schools serving students in South, Southeast, and East Los Angeles. KIPP LA’s mission is to teach the academic skills, foster the intellectual habits, and cultivate the character traits needed for our students to thrive in school, college, and life. KIPP LA currently operates 15 schools and serves approximately 6,500 students. Our team is expanding rapidly; over the next five years, we will more than double the number of students we serve.


The Opportunity


  • The Compliance Associate will assist with the application, reporting and programming of federal funding (ESSA), state funding (LCFF/LCAP), and government required educational plans such as the charter petition. Specifically, they will ensure alignment across all compliance efforts and written plans for each school and that our plans are reflective of our school activities.
  • Qualified candidates possess excellent writing skills and are able to sort through complexity. The candidate must also be highly organized with the ability to implement strong systems for tracking and reporting, and must be able to produce a quality work product within, at times, tight time constraints.


The Responsibilities


  • Primary responsibilities include preparation of charter proposals, state and federal plans such as the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), and Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), as well other correspondence to prospective and renewing authorizers and government agencies
  • Review all reporting and school site plans for consistency and accuracy
  • Gather local, state, and federal data on achievement, demographics, national trends, etc to aid with grant application
  • Train site coordinators, school leaders and others as needed on LCAP, Title I requirements, the CA Dashboard
  • Be familiar with school accountability structures in CA and and make recommendations as needed
  • Create educational materials to deepen stakeholders level of understanding of public grant requirements
  • Attend and support school-based meetings such as, but not limited to, Title I planning, LCAP community meetings, After School Education and Safety (ASES) events.
  • Complete on-going monthly compliance audits of program attendance, agenda items and storage, and maintain documentation of audit outcomes for public programs dashboard
  • Seek out and assess opportunities/eligibility for additional public grants to support KIPP LA’s priorities and vision
  • Weekly visits to school sites across South, Southeast and East Los Angeles
  • Update Public Programs website and other educational items as needed


The Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum 4 years full time work experience
  • Solid writing and editing skills
  • Must be analytical and detail oriented
  • Experience in an educational environment/instruction is a significant plus
  • Excellent computer skills, experience working with Google platform a plus
