Job Summary:

United Way of King County is a recognized leader in solving the community’s toughest challenges. Join the Brand team as our newest Emerging Leaders 365 Program Manager! UWKC’s Emerging Leaders 365 program currently has more than 10,000 young professionals. This group includes 750 donors who contribute nearly a million dollars annually, and the group reflects the community that United Way of King County serves in terms of race and ethnicity. These young leaders are committed to racial justice and engage with UWKC through giving, volunteering, and attending networking events where they build important community connections including with community leaders.

This position is responsible for managing and growing the Emerging Leaders 365 program and producing high-quality events to engage members and support them in becoming donors at the Emerging Leaders 365 level. Position responsibilities also include carrying out the Emerging Leaders 365 strategic marketing plan, leading an internal team of core Emerging Leaders 365 members, creating Emerging Leaders 365 content, and staffing a committee of approximately 15 volunteers.

The annual recruiting salary range is $72,500 - $75,500 DOE. This position is open until filled; first consideration will be given to applications received within two weeks of posting.

Essential Duties:

  • Leads a cross-functional team with UWKC Brand, Community Services, and Development staff to grow the number of Emerging Leaders 365 donors and offer young professionals meaningful ways to engage with the community and United Way of King County.
  • Plans and executes a range of events to attract new Emerging Leaders 365 and to increase the number of Emerging Leaders 365 who become donors.
  • Supports the Associate Director, Affinity Marketing in developing and implementing a communication plan to effectively recruit and engage Emerging Leaders 365.
  • Serves as the primary writer for Emerging Leaders 365 materials including newsletters, talking points, events communication, printed pieces, and web content.
  • Works with the entire marketing team and especially the Social Media Strategist, Web Developers, and Digital Advertising and Events Manager to leverage UWKC’s social media, web presence, and advertising resources to connect with and expand this group.  
  • Staffs the Emerging Leaders 365 Committee and actively engages with volunteers to help grow the Emerging Leaders 365 program.
  • Carries out day-to-day program management and logistics including evaluation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Creates and manages the annual Emerging Leaders 365 budget, including incorporating strategic budgeting for events.

Core Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to package, promote, and manage a program that appeals to young professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional team.
  • Proven project and events management skills.
  • Demonstrated creative and strategic thinking, and well-developed skills in leveraging existing organizational relationships to identify and secure new opportunities for the program.
  • Proven strong content/copywriting background for both digital and print, and basic understanding of SEO.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing racial equity principles.
  • Proven excellent writing, verbal, and public speaking skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment, make complex decisions, apply interpersonal and customer service skills, participate in a creative team environment, and use discretion when carrying out responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to oversee multiple work requests and/or deadlines and to prioritize work in an environment of continually changing requests for support. 
  • Ability to work closely with vendors to secure in-kind and cash donations and discounts for events including food and beverage perks and venue rentals.
  • Experience in staffing high-level volunteers in nonprofit environments.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marketing or a related field. Five years’ experience in marketing field including at least three years’ experience in event management. Experience leading a cross-functional team required; experience coordinating high-level volunteers a plus.

COVID-19 Update:

Protecting the health and safety of our communities is a top priority. Due to the circumstances surrounding the pandemic, all interviews will be conducted remotely for the time being. We will provide candidates who are selected for interviews with all the required instructions for the interview process. 

United Way of King County values workplace flexibility. Our office is currently closed, and staff are working remotely until February 22, 2022. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation as well as the overall health of our community and we may adjust the office opening date as needed. When our office does reopen, we will offer a hybrid approach combining in-office work and remote work for our staff.
