WHO WE ARE
Transform Finance is a field-building nonprofit organization working at the intersection of social justice and finance. Founded in 2013 and based in New York City, we operate internationally through multiple program areas.
We envision a world where capital is a tool for the advancement of real, transformative social change. Through thought leadership, trainings, convenings, and the Transform Finance Investor Network, we support all stakeholders, from community leaders and activists to investors and entrepreneurs, who are exploring a more just vision for the deployment of capital and seeking to redefine who wins and who loses in the economy.
- The Transform Finance Investor Network is a community of practice for asset owners and managers exploring how to align their capital in accordance with social justice and the transformative finance principles. Launched at the White House in 2014, the Network now represents over $2 billion in assets explicitly exploring this alignment
- The Transform Finance Institute for Social Justice Leaders is a multi-day training that supports social justice leaders and activists in exploring how capital intersects with their work and how to use it as a tool to advance social change agendas, from climate justice to immigrant rights
- Our research projects seek to create specific tools and opportunities for investors and movement builders. Examples include creating models for alternative funds and investment frameworks along specific issues, and outlining change strategies via financial markets, such as highlighting innovations in public equity markets for social justice campaigns
- Our advisory services help foundations, family offices and other investors navigating the alignment of their investments with a social change strategy, from defining an impact thesis, to crafting investment policy statements and identifying pipelines of transformative investable opportunities
- Our thought leadership work centers on webinars and briefings at the forefront of finance and social change and cover topics such as the intersection of renewable energy and human rights, alternative deal and ownership structures, and community-centered governance models for investments
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Administrative Assistant is a sharp, organized, and motivated individual that’s eager to support the smooth running of a small, tight-knit team.
He or she must be able to handle a varied workload, have a knack for seeking out ways to improve operations and make programs run smoothly, and take the initiative to complete administrative tasks independently. This person is committed to social justice values and excited about the mission of our organization.
The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the Program Coordinator and the Executive Director on daily operations on tasks such as:
- Manage financial statements, invoices, and budgetary needs with fiscal sponsor
- Enter and track important dates, reminders, and timelines into the team calendar
- Manage and implement best practices for CRM system
- Set up Investor Network webinars, track engagement, and manage media
- Create approach to and execute the management of files, research materials, and other documents for grant reporting and main programs
- Research best practices for current programs (MailChimp, Google Drive, etc.) and potential new ones
- Manage contracts and time sheets for contracted staff
- Miscellaneous tasks as assigned by Program Coordinator and Executive Director
- Develop and manage tracking systems for critical operations such as grants management, tracking project deadlines and goals, and other key areas
- Cultivate organizational practices around inflows of materials, knowledge, communications, and opportunities
- Research and implement relevant technological solutions to project management and administrative needs
- Create weekly timelines based on team calendar and project goals and hold team accountable
- Assess need for material production relating to meetings, events, and communications
- Pre-empt material and support for Program Managers and Executive Director, such as printed collateral, website updates, auxiliary documents, and background research
- Creatively assess current needs and develop strategies for improvement
- Support Program Managers’ research, special projects, and organization as needed
- Commitment to supporting the logistical needs of a small, mission-driven entity
- Attention to detail and top-notch organizational skills
- Ability to handle a large stream of new information and juggle competing priorities, including those with vastly different timelines
- Excellent writing ability and etiquette for external communications, particularly emails
- Fluency with the Microsoft Office suite, Google Suite, Mailchimp, Project Management tools, and simple CRM software a plus
- Familiarity with administrative work, and ideally direct office experience
- Experience with designing flyers, PowerPoint slide decks, and email campaigns a plus
- New York City-based or willing to relocate
