Prism is hiring a Digital Communications Manager to develop, implement, track, and optimize our digital and social media content and marketing campaigns across all digital channels. The Digital Communications Manager will be key in helping us achieve our goal to shift the narrative around reflective democracy and underreported issues facing marginalized communities. This full-time, exempt position reports directly to the Communications Director.

While we are headquartered in Oakland, CA, applicants may choose to work remotely, anywhere in the U.S.

General Responsibilities

Day to day, the Digital Communications Manager will design digital and social media strategies and corresponding content to achieve marketing targets for Prism and Prism Senior Fellows and will work in concert with our Communications Director to broaden Prism’s strategic approach by:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining all social media channels
  • Managing, creating, and publishing original, high quality content
  • Regularly tracking and getting insights into competitors' strategies 
  • Designing and executing all digital media campaigns according to communications goals including email, social media, and display advertising campaigns
  • Staying up-to-date with digital media technologies and latest trends 
  • Optimizing spending and performance based on the insights
  • Collaborating with agencies and other vendor partners
  • Measuring and reporting performance of all digital and social media platforms and marketing campaigns, and assessing against goals (ROI and KPIs) via weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly digital analyses

The Digital Communications Manager will also oversee content creation and management of all Prism social media channels by:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining all social media channels
  • Managing, creating, and publishing original, high quality content
  • Liaising with writers and Senior Fellows to ensure content is informative and appealing
  • Communicating with industry professionals and influencers via social media to create a strong network
  • Training internal teams to integrate and maintain a cohesive social media strategy
  • Facilitating audience-organization communication via social listening best practices

Lastly, the Digital Communications Manager will oversee maintenance and troubleshooting of the Prism website by:

  • Regularly reviewing all pages to ensure the website is fully functional 
  • Overseeing the troubleshooting process for website bugs 
  • Collaborating with the Communications Director and website vendors to create landing pages and optimize user experience
  • Manually uploading all content as necessary 

Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Commitment to racial justice, economic justice, and gender justice
  • Cultural competency with BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities
  • Three to five years’ experience in social media and website management.
  • Fluency in a variety of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube at minimum) and publishing software (e.g. Hootsuite, Sprinklr, Sprout Social)
  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends) and website content management best practices
  • Up-to-date familiarity with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement
  • Ability to pivot from strong analytical and data-driven thinking to highly creative thinking
  • Alignment with Prism values and mission

Additional ideal (but not required) skills include:

  • Experience leading and managing SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media and/or display advertising campaigns
  • Experience in optimizing landing pages and user funnels
  • Experience with A/B and multivariate experiments
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints
  • Experience in setting up and optimizing Google Adwords campaigns
