"e" inc. -- the environment science learning & action center based in Boston, is seeking both Full-time and Part-time environment science Teachers who desire to engage, excite, and motivate children and youth in exploring science and in making a difference.

Our goals are to help young people understand and love science and also get involved in taking action.

"e" inc. staff teach in day-schools, after-schools, and youth teams.

Our Team seeks educators who are committed to the goals of providing exciting science involvements in urban settings (both formal and informal). We invite those with a degree in, or minor in, science-related fields and who are eager to unlock science for children or youth to apply. Our team members work to bring students the science of the planet and the skills to make a difference.

ABOUT THE JOB:

Our staff provide year-long involvements at every one of our partner sites.

We teach:

  1. The science that drives the beings, biomes, resources, and systems of the Earth.
  2. Action projects that make a difference in class, home, or community.
  3. Robust, hands-on science that involve students in tasks that foster conservation and sustainability.
  4. We help young people to gain greater science-literacy and to be invested in planet protection.

"e" inc. will accept talented full-time, part-time, and Northeastern University Co-op and post co-op student applicants.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

As a staff member you will be required to:

  • Teach at a specific set of both day-school and after school sites across the year.
  • Learn and teach our hands-on science curriculums;
  •  Always add ideas to improve curriculums at weekly staff meetings.

  • Work with the "e" inc. team members to support our "Action First!" process.
  • Involve all classes in our system that has children rotating ACTION tasks across the year.
#3. You are also expected to:
  • Keep notes on concerns and positive outcomes in your classes weekly at each site.
  • Administer pre-post quizzes to gauge learning,
  • Use exit tickets for each group,
  •  Maintain your data across the year.
#4. Besides teaching and preparation, staff are involved in (but not limited to):
  • Managing staff data,
  • Supporting our presence through social media,
  • Maintaining teaching supplies and various outreach tasks across the year.

HIRING CRITERIA:

Please Apply If:
  • You have taught in classroom settings or after-school or youth teams and feel confident engaging with either children or youth and managing classroom behavior.
  • You are comfortable working independently and confident negotiating a strong leadership role at your sites.
  • You are excited by and educated in sciences and love the challenge of working with elementary, middle school, or teen populations.
  • You have a passion for the environment and want to help young people gain access to more science learning.
  • You are interested in making a difference for children and youth in Boston and Cambridge.
