The Notre Dame Mission Volunteers National Office supports the work of NDMV teams around the world. In the US, NDMV’s flagship program, Notre Dame – AmeriCorps (NDA) facilitates the service of over 450 AmeriCorps members in 20 teams across the country. Notre Dame – International (NDI) relates to NDMV’s work overseas, especially the Boulangerie Notre Dame in Haiti, as well as volunteers who serve alongside the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, founders of NDMV. All of our service seeks to expand access to education for marginalized populations.  

 

The Communications Coordinator plays an important role on our National Office team by facilitating communications internally and externally, maintaining brand consistency and coordinating with NDA members working on site. The role links activities members are implementing at site to the larger strategic initiatives developed by NDMV leadership while assisting the Executive Director and national office in communicating the mission, values, and vision of NDMV.

Major responsibilities:

  • Work with NDMV leadership to formulate and manage annual communications strategy
  • Identify ways to leverage major events, focal points, and existing initiatives during the NDMV program year 
  • Identify ways to coordinate communications efforts alongside stakeholders/funders
  • Identify ways to target new audiences
  • Plan Site Director engagement initiatives to amplify message on a local level (i.e. developing a timeline for working with each city’s local media, developing a plan for responding to unexpected events involving local teams, etc.)
  • Create and/or manage systems in place to uphold and strengthen communications plan for future years
  • Manage communication among existing NDMV stakeholders (Sisters of Notre Dame, National
  • Service Network, partnering sites, members, donors, alumni
  • Lead in the creation of an annual report
  • Coordinate annual newsletter
  • Coordinate regular appeals and thank you letters
  • Work with Program Coordinators and other staff to generate content for monthly SND eNewsletter
  • Manage communications initiatives to expand breadth and depth of stakeholders
  • Oversee all social media platforms
  • Work with media outlets to cover NDMV
  • Target new audiences in a strategic way  
  • Oversee promotional materials
  • Manage relationship with Swag Dog and ensure appropriate materials are available for Site Director purchase
  • Work with media consultants to create videos, ads, and other materials to use as promotional and educational materials
  • Assist with coordinating the Midyear Training Conference
  • Lead efforts to leverage marketing, communications, and development opportunities leading up to and throughout the conference
  • Assist nationwide team to ensure primary goals of Midyear are met (strengthening organization identity, member training, teambuilding, marketing, strengthening key relationships)
  • Participating in capacity-building projects as the organization continues to expand
  • Learning new components of development and communications work with the opportunity to grow
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Things that should be in your background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • Prior experience with a domestic or international service program (e.g. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, etc.) (preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for learning
  • Demonstrated commitment to community service, education, and partnership
