Individual Giving Coordinator

Founded in Chicago in 2005, MetroSquash is an after-school, weekend, and summer program that provides transformative, life changing opportunities for underserved youth. After 13 years of successful programming for public school students on Chicago’s south side, MetroSquash will expand to Evanston in the fall of 2018. This expansion will be supported through a partnership with McGaw YMCA and use of their squash courts and academic space. With a strong squash community, world-class educational institutions, and students and families who can benefit from a high-impact after-school program, Evanston represents a compelling city for MetroSquash’s expansion.

The Individual Giving Coordinator will be responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive annual giving program to increase MetroSquash’s individual giving portfolio and support.  This individual will be extremely organized and will manage all aspects of the giving process, including the strategy for donor/prospect acquisition through broad based appeals. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and project management skills and be skilled in moves management systems. Additionally, the position will serve as liaison to the Board of Directors and Auxiliary Board. This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.


  • In collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer (COO), provide vision and leadership for all aspects of MetroSquash’s individual giving program including a proposed budget, strategy and monitoring/reporting plans with key benchmarks
  • Establish and maintain a highly engaging individual donor cultivation and gift stewardship program
  • Measurably increase individual revenue by identifying, soliciting and cultivating new individual donors through prospect research, face-to-face meetings and tours, presentations and community events
  • Complete prospective donor research and briefing materials for donor calls and visits and manage all correspondence and reporting to prospects and donors
  • Work with students and families to create personalized donor recognition opportunities
  • Serve as an official agency spokesperson
  • Prepare materials for individual donor visits for the CEO and COO
  • Maintain regular contact with internal and external constituencies
  • Lead research efforts related to industry trends and apply findings to plans and strategies
  • Other duties as assigned

Required knowledge, skills & abilities

  • A bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years progressively responsible fundraising experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates with successful individual giving campaigns
  • Demonstrated success at conceptualizing, articulating, managing, and executing a strategic full-cycle individual giving campaign; achieve results and increase net revenue year-over-year
  • Superior organizational skills with strict attention to detail; demonstrated ability to proactively manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Ability to be focused, set priorities, and stay calm and measured in all situations; ability to be flexible and to manage different projects concurrently, sometimes under pressure
  • Exceptional relationship management skills, as well as superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to provide customer service and apply sound judgment when dealing with colleagues, committees, donors, and volunteers
  • Proficiency is expected with eTapesty and most recent Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher, and PowerPoint; and a general comfort level with technology, including web sites and social networking
