Afterschool Sustainability VISTA

The Missouri Afterschool Network is implementing new and progressive initiatives to increase and sustain quality afterschool opportunities throughout Missouri and we are looking for passionate, mission-driven individual to join our team.

High quality afterschool programs are shown to increase student academic performance, improve behavior and support regular school attendance. These programs also provide excellent opportunities for youth to explore new topics without the typical constraints that occur during the school day. To keep afterschool opportunities operating and accessible to all children, community engagement and a sustainability process is needed.  

The Afterschool Sustainability VISTA will establish a strong community outreach and engagement strategy that communicates the benefits of afterschool programs and persuades community leaders and entities (youth-serving organizations, parents, schools, philanthropy, opinion leaders, etc.) to provide in-kind, financial and /or volunteer support to sustain and expand afterschool programs for students who need them most. Additionally, the VISTA will create a strong statewide network to support local efforts to increase awareness of and support for afterschool and summer learning programs.
