TITLE:   Program Coordinator (for the Alameda County Everyone Counts Campaign)

REPORTS TO:     Programs Manager

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the successful planning implementation, coordination, administration, budgeting, evaluation, reporting and day-to-day management of the Everyone Counts Campaign. They will be responsible for wrapping-up efforts for the Latino Community focused program and planning/coordinating the new two-year campaign targeting mental health consumers in the African American Community.

The Everyone Counts Campaign addresses discrimination and social exclusion by engaging key stakeholder groups – unserved, under-served, and inappropriately served ethnic mental health services consumers and their family members and communities, and “power group” members, those in positions to positively impact discriminatory practices and policies. It convenes these individuals into “Action Teams” to uncover, highlight, and to reduce the effects of mental health discrimination for mental health consumers.


Program Coordination

·        Work closely with Programs Manager and key stakeholders to design, develop, and implement all program activities to meet the deliverables for the African American Program (ECC).

·        Recruits members of the African American community to participate in program activities such as committees, focus groups, action team, and support groups.

·        Develops outreach and education materials for the African American Program (ECC).

·        Coordinates logistics for meetings, groups, trainings, events related to program activities.

·        Monitor costs for all program-related activities, ensuring appropriate tracking of budget items.

·        Facilitates presentations, trainings, and focus groups, and support groups including the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) groups.

·        Sustain programs that hold high integrity of cultural foundation, including ethnicities, life experiences, gender(s), sexuality, socio-economic status, age, etc.

Data, Evaluation, Reporting:

·        Work closely with Programs Manager and key stakeholders to design and/or implement evaluation tools to measure program effectiveness, impact on wellness, and participant feedback, including collecting /organizing details on program and events.

·        Follow Results Based Accountability (RBA), Prevention and Early Intervention, and MHSA standards for program evaluation.

Community Relationships and Leadership:

·        Collaborate with and establish strong relationships with community (mental health consumers, family members, providers and community at large), particularly with stakeholders from all levels of influence and across various systems that can positively impact discriminatory practices and policies.

·        Ability to navigate the socially, politically, and emotionally charged climate that exists on the local and national level, while successfully facilitating forums that included diverse views from within the African American community and stakeholders. 

·        Stay abreast of the latest development in culturally appropriate recovery based mental health services and best practices approaches for reducing stigma and discrimination.


·        Experience as a mental health consumer and/or family member is at the core of our mission and vision. We are seeking someone who understands that we are a peer-run and operated organization that honors lived experience as an expertise in the field of mental health.

·        Commitment to demonstrating the mission, vision, and values of PEERS.

·        Absolute commitment to confidentiality and discretion.

·        Experience coordinating programs and managing contractors/committees.

·        Advance level Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) facilitator preferred.

·        Exceptional training, public speaking, presenting, and group facilitation skills.

·        Possession of necessary skills and experience to successfully coordinate all aspects of a program.

·        Demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse teams and individuals.

·        Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently and meet project deadlines and expectations.

·        Possession of valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and car.

·        Spanish language skills appreciated.



·        Program headquarters is a standard office setting on the second floor of a multi-story building, requiring use of an elevator for access.

·        Innovative, mental health consumer driven organization with strong ties to the community.

·        Business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm, with some weekends and evenings.

Employment Status/Salary: Full-time, Salary Non-Exempt employee with benefits (Salary Range: $45,000 – $50,000)
