Golden State Opportunity (GSO) is a nonprofit dedicated to ending poverty by providing all Californians with the tools to build financial well-being and thrive. It is led by doers who educate, engage, and empower working families. GSO’s groundbreaking, culturally relevant work in thirteen languages reaches millions of low-income Californians and connects them with the financial resources they need to survive and then thrive.
GSO has an ambitious strategic plan that will transform the organization into a national anti-poverty powerhouse by taking its model of outreach and engagement to more states, adding accountability campaigns through issue and electoral campaigns and establishing federal and state PACs as needed to achieve the goal of ending poverty by 2035. GSO will achieve this goal not only by bringing the voices and lived experiences of low-income people to the halls of power, but by bringing the full power of these communities as well.

About the Position
Reporting to the Campaigns Director and working with the Campaigns team, the Campaign Coordinator will craft, lead, rapidly execute, and support inclusive and impactful outreach programs to engage Californian’s to take advantage of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), to help them file their taxes, and to encourage them to signup for advocacy efforts that improve the lives of low-income Californians. In addition to the EITC and free tax prep, Campaign Coordinators also partner with communities to ensure access to financial well-being information and public benefits. Other projects may include non-partisan voter registration, voter engagement mobilization, and issue advocacy as opportunities arise.
The Campaign Coordinator plays a key role in furthering Golden State Opportunity’s presence and reach within California and their local community. This person is responsible for cultivating and developing partnerships to identify, create, and implement innovative approaches to cultivating and strengthening community partnerships towards ending poverty. This work will initially focus on California and eventually be the model on which to build a national volunteer and outreach program.
