About the Position: 

We strive to serve a population of students classified as English Language Learners (ELLs) that is comparable to the district and our English as a New Language (ENL) program is critical to our mission. To that end, we seek highly skilled and dedicated educators to work in a variety of intervention and support services related roles. Ideal candidates are reflective practitioners who go above and beyond to meet the needs of their students. The most successful teachers in our network love challenges, collaboration, and above all else, educating the whole child.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide targeted small group instruction and in class modifications to students throughout the day
  • Provide direct service to students to help them achieve their learning goals
  • Work collaboratively with grade level teams across content areas to modify and differentiate instruction as needed
  • Assist teachers with differentiation in the classroom
  • Participate as part of the Response to Intervention referral team
  • Support student assessments as proctors and monitors of examinations, including the administration of testing accommodations
  • Oversee and implement progress monitoring for ELLs and students who are at-risk of academic failure
  • Provide a range of instructional, management, and assessment strategies to meet the different needs of students
  • Assist with non-instructional supervision of students, such as arrival/dismissal, hallway monitoring, substitute teaching, lunch and playground duty, or supervision of extracurricular activities
  • Assist in moving students to proper locations during fire drills, and sports or arts programs
  • When absent, ensures all substitute plans are clear and thorough
  • May be asked to support with students who have IEPs depending in ELL caseload.
  • Keep accurate and organized records of student information



  • Commitment to working in under-served communities
  • New York State Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Certification, strongly preferred
  • 2+ years of English as a New Language teaching experience, strongly preferred
  • Master’s Degree in Education, strongly preferred
