This is a rare opportunity to make a difference and effect positive change in the long term and direct-care healthcare industries. We are looking for a talented and skilled professional to join our dynamic team in a grant funded position as a Philadelphia-based Career Counselor/Case Manager. The Career Counselor/Case Manager will work with work with the project manager to implement and execute training and recruitment initiatives. This position requires someone who understands the unique challenges of the workforce and healthcare industry and is understanding of the intense work demands needed to quickly design and implement this innovative approach.

The District 1199C Training & Upgrading Fund and the SEIU Health Care PA Education & Training Fund will partner with the Pennsylvania Health Care Association to provide effective, high-quality, career pathway-based occupational training and certification to 1,000 Pennsylvanians focused in, but not limited to, the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh metropolitan regions.

Job Description:

General

  • Support day-to-day program operations and assist job seekers with career pathway goal planning.
  • Support workers’ transitions from entry through the workforce career pathways intended to develop participants employability skills; provide them training; and place them in high-demand, high-opportunity jobs.
  • Work with CareerLink’s to provide information sessions to promote healthcare opportunities
  • Coordinate program registration assessments, career counseling and career pathways plans as per participants needs
  • Coordinate the program registration including background checks as per established procedures and program guidelines
  • Coordinate career inventories, individual employment plans and skills assessments as per participants needs
  • Coordinate program orientation and recruitment as needed
  • Connect participants with internal and external support services as needed
  • Advise participants on available public benefits appropriate to circumstances
  • Assist participants in applying for appropriate benefits and advocating on their behalf, including applicable tuition reimbursement/continuing education benefits for incumbent workers
  • Keep track of the status of each participant’s applications, enrollment and progress
  • Regularly enter services and outcome data into the Salesforce database
  • Conduct outreach and recruitment activities as requested
  • Attend meetings as requested
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with 3 years’ related experience or Associates’ degree and 5 years’ experience in related field
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Customer excellence attitude
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Fluency in more than one language preferred
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office, Internet and virtual platforms
  • Must have valid drivers’ license and ability to travel
  • Experience in and/or understanding of union environments, especially in healthcare and human services settings, is highly desirable.

Work Requirements:

Must be able to travel (NOTE: Subject to significant alteration for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic) and work flexible hours, with some evening hours required.

Compensation:

Generous employee benefits package including paid time off, pension, healthcare, tuition reimbursement benefits. Salary based on experience, ranging from $40-$45,000.

Prior to receiving an offer of employment, applicants should expect to provide at least two references able to testify to applicant’s ability to meet the qualifications listed above. References are not required prior to application/interview.
