PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Adult Education & Career Development (AECD) program at Lutheran Settlement House (LSH) provides adult education, job readiness and digital literacy services to adults in the community and within LSH’s other program areas. Program components are as follows:

·        Adult Literacy and Lifelong Learning Program, which includes: a tutoring program that provides volunteer-based individual and small-group tutoring to individuals in preparation for GED or HiSET or to meet a specific education or career-related goal; ESL classes; and adult education classes in community schools.

·        Digital Literacy Program, which includes: digital literacy education through classes, special projects, and individualized assistance; and the operation of the KEYSPOT ® computer lab.

·        Pathways to Employment Program, which includes: a monthly Job Readiness Boot Camp; a customer service training program; individualized job search assistance; and economic empowerment programming in partnership with LSH’s Bilingual Domestic Violence Program.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

General

§ Provide strategic program leadership and identify areas for growth and program improvement

§ Serve on LSH leadership team

§ Support program fundraising efforts and write grant and contract reports

§ Recruit, orient, supervise and support volunteers, interns, staff, & consultants.

§ Conduct client outreach, and facilitate client intake, orientation, & assessment

§ Monitor program participation, ensuring that contract/grant requirements are met.

§ Oversee all aspects of program delivery

§ Provide ongoing support to participants and volunteers. Assist with barrier reduction for learners.

§ Develop and maintain relationships with external partners including OAE, Community Schools staff, referral partners, etc.

§ Maintain program website & social media presence


Qualifications & Requirements:

§ Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management

§ Prior experience supervising staff and/or volunteers

§ Ability to organize and prioritize tasks

§ Ability to relate to diverse program environments and people of diverse cultures

§ Ability to develop and maintain partnerships

§ Strong interpersonal and communication skills

§ Strong work ethic and high degree of reliability

§ Strong technology skills, preferably including experience with Google Classroom, Google Forms, and Wordpress

§ Conversational Spanish skills highly preferred.

§ Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred, ideally in education, social work, sociology, or social science field

§ Must be able to pass Pennsylvania Child Abuse and Criminal Background clearances
