Description

Join the team at the Hobby School in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. We're looking for a keen, enthusiastic elementary-school teacher to teach science in an English Language Learning (ELL) environment.

The position would involve teaching science classes to students in grades 2-5 (ages 7 to 11) as part of the The International Primary Curriculum (IPC http://www.greatlearning.com/ipc/). We look for candidates who have demonstrated the sorts of skills required for success in an international elementary school: initiative, ability to work with children, flexibility, openness to new cultures, and experience with classroom teaching. We will consider your application holistically.

Requirements:

  • Native speaker;
  • Four-year bachelor’s degree preferably with a concentration in education (either major or minor);
  • Teacher’s certificate (TEFL Certification or TESOL certificate is acceptable);
  • Full-time teaching experience at primary school or kindergarten;
  • A full year commitment or longer (preferably);
  • 2 references (at least one from immediate supervisor).

Along with the requirements above, candidates with following qualities are preferred:

  • Experience in working with foreign students; and
  • Adaptability and openness and to new cultural environments.

Please visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/hobbyschool/ for more info about us.The primary school teacher position is a challenging, yet very rewarding task as the teacher will have to work with kids who don't speak English /2nd grade/ as well as kids who already speak the language, though at various levels of proficiency /2nd, 3rd and 4th grades/ . Class preparation is required, as well as giving and checking homework.

Because of the nature of the IPC program followed by Hobby School, the teacher will work closely with other primary school teachers (international and local alike), good teamwork skills and creativity are therefore of paramount importance.

He or she will also participate in extracurricular activities at the school, such as preparation for an annual English Olympiad, ABC festival, Spring and Drama festivals, different quizzes and competitions.
