PURPOSE:   Responsible for providing organizational support and development of A&PI serving community based organizations, including Asian Pacific Islander Coalition (APIC) chapters, partner organizations, and grassroots groups in order to achieve the overall goal of building statewide, holistic, and intergenerational civic engagement capacity. Will achieve this through coordination of trainings, technical assistance and support to organizations, contract development, grant writing-support, and more.

  1. Works with Director and organizations to identify and assess capacity building needs; develops and implements comprehensive plan that addresses gaps through re-granting, trainings, networking spaces, technical support, and other tactics. Provides assistance with grant writing and development of 501c3 status when applicable.   
  2. Manages partner relationships and directly oversees deliverables of APIC chairs and other partners receiving re-grants. Maintains consistent communication with APIC chapters and partner organizations. Sends regular email updates, distributes important information, conducts monthly check ins and networking calls.
  3. Conducts administrative, logistical, and technical support to APIC chapters and partner organizations through drafting contracts, submitting and tracking check requests, monitoring grants to fiscal sponsors. Responds to administrative inquiries and requests from partners. 
  4. Helps Director with grant reports and applications. Collects reporting information from partners. Writes about lessons learned and effective strategies to create ongoing evaluation and feedback loop of capacity building strategies. 
  5. Develops and maintains a resource bank of useful materials that can be distributed, or made available, to partners. Corresponds with and provides information and resources to partners.
  6. Attends all agency, program and team meetings, in-service trainings, and supervision.
  7. Other job-related duties as assigned by management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:   

Regularly required to walk; use hands and arms to reach and operate objects, tools, or controls. Must occasionally lift up to/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Some work will be performed offsite (e.g. home visits or external meetings). The noise level in the work environment is moderate.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree plus three (3) years of experience in non-profit or social justice or civil rights environment;

OR

Associates degree plus four (4) years of experience in non-profit or social justice or civil rights environment;

AND

Three (3) years of planning and/or administrative experience in related field. Some substitutions of experience and training for academic degree may be allowed.

  • A demonstrated commitment to social and racial justice issues and understanding of challenges facing Asian and Pacific Islander communities, immigrant communities, and communities of color.
  • Effective ability to navigate a personal computer. Competency in use of the Microsoft Office and other relevant software for word processing, calendaring, e-mail, and data entry. Efficiently research and perform various tasks via the internet.
  • Strong communication/public relation skills, both oral and written.
