About the Position:

The Development Associate will help with grants management and fundraising for A Better Balance. This position will contribute to the organization’s mission by working with legal, communications, and development staff to identify funding opportunities and write proposals, request letters, and reports to funders. The Development Associate will also be responsible for organizing and maintaining a grants calendar. This position requires exceptional writing and project management skills, ability to learn quickly on the job, and strong interpersonal skills for working with funders and legal staff. The candidate should possess the ability to manage projects independently, set priorities, and take initiative as well as work as part of a cohesive team. This position reports to the Co-Presidents of the organization. This is a full-time position.


Responsibilities:

·      Conduct regular research into grant opportunities that align with ABB’s mission and vision.

·      Identify and contribute ideas to expand ABB’s funding base and develop corporate outreach strategy.

·      Draft grant proposals, budget narratives, reports, and all required supporting documents for funders on deadline.

·      Organize and update ABB’s grants calendar, setting forth the status of all reporting deadlines and prospective applications.

·      Facilitate and communicate the grant application process for involved ABB staff members, including development of application timeline, budget requirements, check lists, etc. to ensure smooth application process.

·      Maintain communication on progress of obtained grants with Co-Presidents.


Qualifications:

  •  This is an entry-level position. Bachelor’s degree required,
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  •  Ability to manage multiple deadlines concurrently with attention to detail.
  • Organized and able to self-manage workload and deadlines.
  • Able to work independently and as a team member, with a positive attitude.
  • Commitment to and passion for ending racial, gender, health, and economic injustice.
  • Position is based in New York City.
