ABOUT SEADC 

Southeast Asian Development Center (SEADC) mission is to foster a healthy, thriving, and self-sufficient Southeast Asian American community.  

Founded in 1978 San Francisco’s Tenderloin District, the Southeast Asian Development Center, formerly Vietnamese Youth Development Center (VYDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to lifting children, youth and families from Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam out of poverty.  Our services are structured around providing low-income and vulnerable Southeast Asian Americans with basic needs and skills critical to building successful futures. We provide jobs, academic support, language service, health, and wellness, promote cultural resiliency and social guidance.  

POSITION SUMMARY  

The Marketing and Development Associate will be supporting the Development and Communications Director with the planning, organizing, and execution of all SEADC’s communications and fundraising efforts. The Marketing and Development Associate additionally will be providing some administrative support to the SEADC office.  

This position will offer opportunities to engage in every aspect of our operation and develop a crucial role within the organization as we grow our capacity to serve more Southeast Asian youth and families. This position is ideal for recent graduates with degree in marketing, communications, or business. Due to Shelter in-place, this position will work remotely and will go into the office weekly.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Marketing and Development (70%) 

• Communications/Marketing 
• Development and procurement of marketing collateral 
• Manage Mailchimp list serv. 
• Assist in deploying successful marketing campaigns and educational content to increase satisfaction, engagement, and retention of our client, donor, and volunteer community. 
• Assist with development and updating of organization forms, marketing, and communication materials. 
• Assist with the development of communication content, including newsletters, interactive and downloadable resources, and social channels and website. 
• Development 
• Partner with Director of Development and Communications to build and manage a scalable, effective donor prospecting and lead management system. 
• Assist in grant proposals and funding applications. 
• Assist with donor and foundation research. 
• Support in processing and recording gifts, assisting donors with asset transfer, planning logistics of meetings, data entry, distributing and filing gift documentation, and preparing mailing lists. 
• Support updating salesforce donor data management system. 

Office Support (30%) 

• Answering front-desk phone calls, email and walk-in inquiries and route to proper staff and departments. 
• Aiding in supporting organizational calendar. 
• Pick up and process incoming mail daily, these include bills, checks, and correspondences. 
• Supporting board meetings and board-related activities 
• HR related activities (e.g., posting job announcements, setting up new employee tech accounts). 
• Support finance team with bills processing, invoicing, and vendors coordination.  
• Receive bills and vendor questions via emails. 
• Organized, clean and support front office, guest waiting area, and information table.  
• Supply support for staff meetings, including preparing agenda and online materials for distribution.  
• Help with troubleshooting elevated Office 365 and computer issues for staff and IT contractor. 
• Respond to and handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and poise. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND POSITION COMPETENCIES 

• Requires professional-level skills normally acquired though completion of a regular four-year college degree program in a specialized or technical field. 
• Experience and or passion for communication and or digital arts. 
• Ability to analyze information for the purpose of preparing reports, coordinating efforts, and solving problems. 
• Ability to apply research skills. 
• Experience editing/content managing websites, ideally using WordPress a plus. 
• CRM/AMS database records management skills or other database management skills desired, experience with Salesforce a plus. 
• Excellent attention to detail and effective time management is absolutely required. 
• Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills. 
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and customer service skills with proven ability to interact in a suitable manner with diverse groups of individuals, including clients, corporate and foundation representatives, government officials, and the media on a consistent basis. 
• Strong organizational skills. 
• Must be familiar with Microsoft suite, Gmail, and Outlook.  
• Ability to work independently and creatively in problem solving strongly preferred.  
• Desire to learn and grow in nonprofit marketing, communications, and development. 
• A passion for SEADC mission.   
• Fingerprinting and TB background check required.
