OPPORTUNITY

This is an exciting opportunity for you as an event planning professional to advance a mission of peace through international understanding. This position is responsible for developing and executing events that engage and educate Fulbright alumni, raise the profile of the Fulbright Program and the Association, and promote global and cultural understanding.

ORGANIZATION

The Fulbright Association (FA) is the American alumni organization of the Fulbright Program with a mission to continue and extend the Fulbright tradition of education, advocacy, and service. For 75 years, “Fulbrighters” have traveled to 165 countries to teach, research, and engage in ways that promote peace and understanding. This mission has become even more essential in world torn by pandemic, conflict, and tribalism. When they return from overseas, Fulbrighters join the FA continue their commitment to global connections and personal diplomacy through many programs offered nationally and locally through a network of 52 chapters nationwide. Those programs include an annual conference, community outreach and education, an international webinar series, service travel, TEDxFulbright (the FA holds the global license), and advocacy for Fulbright on Capitol Hill. The FA also awards the prestigious Fulbright Prize to world leaders such as Angela Merkel, Nelson Mandela, Bill and Melinda Gates, and Jimmy Carter. Bono will receive the Fulbright Prize in late 2021.

The FA is a small non-profit, founded in 1977 and located in Washington, DC. It has a team of six full-time professionals, a supportive Board of Directors, and a national network of dedicated volunteers. More information can be found at www.fulbright.org.

POSITION

The Fulbright Association searches for an experienced event planning professional who will lead efforts to develop, market, and stage national events—both digital and in-person—that advance the Association’s mission and that deliver quality, engaging experiences in keeping with the globally respected brand of “Fulbright” and a tradition of programming excellence by the Association. To attract and retain such a committed professional, the Association offers a strong compensation package. In addition to a suite of benefits—medical, dental and disability insurance, 15 days of annual PTO, family and medical leave, 10 Federal holidays, and a matching retirement plan—this position will receive ongoing professional growth opportunities. The annual salary range is $75,000-85,000, depending on experience and salary history, not including a year-end bonus, subject to performance and financial conditions.

This position reports to and works closely with the Executive Director. She/he/they will work collaboratively with other staff members and volunteers on related projects, such as securing event sponsorships, marketing events, promoting membership, and stewarding content. The position is full-time and based at the Washington, DC offices of the FA. Work is flexible at the FA, using a hybrid model of remote and in-person.

This position is a great fit for a hard-working and entrepreneurial event planner who is strongly dedicated to the Fulbright mission, committed to delivering and magnifying the impact of event-based content, and eager to join a dedicated and friendly team of professionals and volunteers. The Association looks forward to your prompt application as the position is open, with the expectation of a start date before or near Labor Day in advance of events this fall that include the Annual Conference (held digitally October 20-22) and the Fulbright Prize (in-person, in December).
