Program Coordinator - HAP

Through HAP, Advancing Justice – LA anchors the Health Justice Network (HJN), a statewide network of close to 60 Asian Americans, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islanders (AANHPI) and other communities of color organizations working on health care issues, including health care reform and access to health care services. Under the direction of the HAP Program Director, the HAP Program Coordinator will oversee coordination of health access direct service program(s), advocacy work and community engagement activities with statewide HJN and HAP collaborative network, including community-based organizations, community health organizations, health care providers in the AANHPI communities, which advance a pro-active agenda on improving access to affordable and quality health services, including implementation of health care reform, COVID-19 vaccine health equity and access navigation, oral health and behavioral health issues, and increasing access for the remaining uninsured, or some smaller collaborative partners statewide and/or at regional county levels. The coordinator will have primary responsibilities for co-leading coordination and facilitation of HAP events and meetings, including HJN statewide, local and regional collaborative partners’ meetings and trainings; providing technical assistance and support to HJN and collaborative partners; assisting in monitoring compliance with grant requirements, and providing administrative and communication support to HAP department. With supportive roles, the coordinator will also liaise and intersect with collaborative partners and community networks through COVID-19 vaccine campaign projects, vaccination coverages and access navigation, as well as oral and/or behavioral health work with AANHPI communities and constituencies.


This is a union position covered by our Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Strong organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and task oriented

· Familiarity with Covered California and/or publicly funded programs, including Medi-Cal and local safety net programs and knowledge of, and interest in, health-related issues, including health care reform, health equity and disparities, and the landscape of the health care system

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Knowledge and experience working with diverse communities and coalitions, especially AANHPI communities, in California

· Strong commitment to social justice

· Must be creative, self-directed, motivated, organized, comfortable working independently and have the ability to initiate and coordinate projects in a timely manner;

· Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends;

· Access to reliable means of transportation is a must

· Design experience, including familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and other software programs a plus

· Strong computer, word processing, and database skills and familiarity and experience with    Microsoft Office Suite products

· Bilingual ability in an Asian American or Pacific Islander language
