Description

As the Manager for Faith-Based Partnerships, this post will build new and support ongoing relationships with large regional and national faith-based community organizations that have missions in alignment with GSUSA.


In this role, the Manager will work to increase visibility and understanding of the Girl Scout movement among faith communities in ways that help councils grow girl membership, engage new volunteers, and advance faith awards for girl and adult members in faith-based communities. The Manager will conceptualize relationship strategies between GSUSA and national and regional faith communities, develop and initiate mutually beneficial partnerships, and facilitate councils’ ability to grow girl and adult membership among faith-based communities.  


MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES


1. Develop and implement a strategy for creating and cultivating relationships with large regional and/or national faith based organizations and leaders that have missions in alignment with GSUSA, with which the Girl Scout movement could enter into collaborative relationships in order to reach more girls and adults with the best leadership development program for girls. 


2. Map existing relationships within councils and GSUSA to identify where and the type of relationships that already exist in target organizations, or to identify where strong contacts exist in organizations that can be activated.  


3. Research and conduct outreach to large regional and/or national faith based groups and community organizations whose missions align with the benefits of Girl Scouting to the girl population. Provide recommendations to councils on potential local and regional targets for partnership outreach.


4. Prepare and submit creative and comprehensive partnership presentations and proposals, including potential return to the organization in terms of good will, community relationships, members, etc. to potential partner organizations.


5. Once national and regional partnerships are forged, develop toolkits, templates, and guidance for councils to leverage and implement these partnerships at the local level. 


6. Develop and maintain a close working relationship with Communications & Marketing and Partnerships Departments within GSUSA in order to take advantage of their professional skills in developing and delivering the Girl Scout “message” and specific proposals. Develop and maintain working relationships across all relevant GSUSA departments.


7. Stay current in community relationship and partnership field. Absorb “best practices” from all sources and integrate into daily activities and strategies.  



SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS


1. Prefer a minimum 4-6 years’ experience working with a national and/or community-based organization that forms collaborative relationships in alliance with their brand, message and/or mission.


2. Demonstrated experience in creating, joining, maintaining and/or growing professional networks among faith-based, community, business and organization professionals 


3. Demonstrated experience in thinking and working independently to identify opportunities to work collaboratively with external organizations. Must have strong sense of organization and follow through in order to forge successful partnerships with identified organizations.


4. Excellent interpersonal skills.


5. Very strong and demonstrated spoken and written communications skills to develop proposals that demonstrate the mutual benefit of a partnership, affiliation and/or identified relationship with the Girl Scouts. Must be able to prepare persuasive and professional letters and memos to all levels of formal organizations.


6. Sufficient financial acumen to manage project budget including the financial responsibilities and/or possibilities relating to a collaborative relationship with the Girl Scouts. Some experience in fund raising strongly preferred.


7. Demonstrated ability to take initiative; proficiency and experience in customer service with high standards of timeliness and responsiveness.


8. Demonstrated experience working in a highly collaborative environment where teamwork, collegiality and self motivation were necessary for success.


Typically 25% travel, but up to 50% at times, to visit organizations to develop and deliver proposals and partnerships as well as undertaking the necessary follow-up.
