Escuela Caracol is looking for a new Marketing and Communications Coordinator to convey our vision and work to current and new donors and supporters, both in Guatemala and internationally.
Escuela Caracol is an intercultural K-6 Waldorf school located in San Marcos La Laguna, on the shores of Lake Atitlán, Guatemala. Around 75% of students are from local Maya families who receive nearly full scholarships in order to attend. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for maintaining communication with all current donors, including sending regular newsletters and student updates, as well as outreach to potential donors. S/he will work closely with the Director of Fundraising and the school’s administration to create material and execute fundraising strategies including (but not limited to) planning and executing campaigns, donor database management, ongoing marketing and communications within Guatemala and internationally, social media outreach, and communication with supporting charity organizations. S/he will be expected to participate in the school community, and may need to attend school events outside of regular work hours.
Responsibilities - Web design and maintenance (Wordpress) - Writing and publishing newsletters (MailChimp), blogs, and all social media communications - Marketing materials design and publication - Photography for marketing - Assist in fundraising campaigns - Donor management and recruitment - Donor database management, reporting and some volunteer coordination
Requirements - Previous experience in marketing, non-profit or small business - Skills in electronic media management, design and analysis (web site, design software, social media) - Previous experience in fundraising preferred - Very strong writing, editing and proofreading skills (in English) - Proven organizational skills to manage and analyze multiple projects within tight deadlines - Bilingual: English and Spanish (at least conversational) - Preferred: experience with educational institutions, Waldorf education, equivalent of US Bachelor's degree
