The Position

Older Adults Technology Services, Inc. (OATS), a New York City-based nonprofit organization, continues to expand its work in Montgomery County, Maryland.


This position is a unique opportunity for a passionate and hardworking individual who cares about the quality of life for older adults in the area and is willing to be a key part of an innovative and entrepreneurial program.  A successful candidate will possess a high degree of patience, creativity, and problem-solving ability along with a sense of humor and a strong commitment to social change. The candidate will also have an affinity for consumer technology (PCs, tablets, Chrome devices, smartphones, video gaming consoles) and the ability to learn new technologies quickly and troubleshoot common tech issues as necessary. 


Responsibilities: 


  • Coordinating programming, training and special events.


  • Teaching computer, tablet and general digital literacy classes using the OATS curriculum and approach, as well as coordinating and supporting other trainers.

 

  • Recruiting and supervising volunteers and interns who will support the needs of the program.


  • Coordinating visits and training sessions with partner site staff and implementing a training schedule to meet all program deliverables.


  • Creating presentations and conducting outreach and capacity building sessions at partner sites throughout the region.


  • Ensuring training sites operate effectively and provide a comfortable and supportive learning environment for seniors.


  • Administrative duties as assigned, including coordinating registration and membership processes, data entry in Salesforce database, purchasing equipment and supplies via OATS procurement personnel, assisting with budgeting and invoicing, and coordinating the delivery of program equipment and supplies.


  • Communicating with and assisting with scheduling trainers for OATS programs.
  • Provide support to trainers and communicate needs to other appropriate parties as needed.


  • Assisting with interview process of new trainers as needed.


  • Planning and overseeing class scheduling and enrollment at partner sites.


  • Assist with providing course books and training materials to sites and trainers.


  • Manage program and data collection for partner sites.


  • Creating and issuing flyers for partner sites; assisting with outreach efforts.


  • Compiling program data when needed; composing reports via Salesforce.


  • Maintaining professionalism at all times and building strong and supportive partnerships with social service agencies, local community sites, and regional partners.


Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and an outgoing and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Highly-organized.  Detail-oriented, and meticulous about accuracy and timeliness.
  • Excellent teaching, speaking and communication skills.
  • Strong account management skills.
  • Cultural competence to navigate a diverse community.
  • Competence with computers, the internet, and common technologies/devices.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience working with seniors, youth, or human-service organizations a plus.
  • Flexibility, patience, and a sense of humor.
  • Ability to travel throughout Montgomery County, Maryland.
  • Regular email/cell phone contact with other team members and supervising staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as a training team.
  • Superior time-management skills.
  • Clear and confident communicator. Grammatically correct and stylistically strong writer.  Perceptive listener and clear speaker.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Salesforce, Google apps and other software programs.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Google Suite and all MS Office applications.
  • Genuine interest in older adults and a desire to foment positive transformations in individual lives and the way we as a society, age.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an outgoing and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to absorb information quickly and translate to a variety of audiences

Salary

  • This is a full-time position, with a salary of $35,000-$45,000/year. OATS offers full-time employees a generous package of leave time (three weeks vacation and ten sick/personal days), health insurance and ancillary benefits, professional development and growth opportunities, and an exciting, collegial work environment.
