Overview

Responsibilities

  • develop strong partnerships with school leaders and staff by providing human resources guidance and support to a portfolio of schools;
  • analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies;
  • manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, and conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations;
  • maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • partner with the legal as needed or required and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws;
  • provide day-to-day performance management guidance to school leaders (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions);
  • provide HR policy guidance and interpretation;
  • maintain up-to-date employee records, transactions, and files in HR systems (Dayforce, ShareFile);
  • maintains “office hours” at schools to provide HR support to assistant principals of operations and school principals; and
  • perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and five years of relevant human resource experience
  • Strong technical understanding of employee benefits and leave

  • A steward of ethical behavior who actively supports a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming workplace culture
  • Ability to align with Ascend's educational and workplace philosophies
  • HR professional certification(s) preferred
