Voices for Children Montgomery (VFCM) is part of a national network of court appointed special advocate (CASA) programs, advocating for the best interest of children in foster care.  VFCM seeks an independent, skillful and proficient Development Coordinator who functions well in a remote work environment. This individual will provide excellent fundraising support for the organization. The Development Coordinator is part-time position of 25 hours per week. The Development Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for administrative operations and task coordination, including support for our individual giving, major donor and institutional grants programs.

Examples of Duties:

  1. Assists the Executive Director in implementing VFCM’s annual development plan, including strategies for individual, corporate, association and foundation contributions.
  2. Responsible for maintaining detailed, accurate, and accessible donor and prospect related records in donor database. 
  3. Responsible for preparing donor acknowledgements.
  4. Conducts research and identifies potential new funding sources.
  5. Assists in the development of grant proposals.  Prepares final draft and related materials.
  6. Maintains database of foundations, corporations, service groups and other potential funding sources, including records of foundations applied to, application/re-application dates, and outcomes. 
  7. Maintains information packets for prospective corporate and other funders.
  8. Ensures adequate support to Board Finance & Development Committees, including assistance with fundraising events.  
  9. Maintains calendar of grant report dates and prepares drafts of all reports for editing by Executive Director.

Qualifications 

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in administrative support 
  • 1 year of experience in a nonprofit Development or Fundraising department 
  • Experience with a donor database preferred 
  • Accurate, basic math skills 
  • Strong record-keeping & document management skills 
  • Reliable, self-motivated, proactive, and organized with superb task management skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (in-person, email, phone, strong writing skills, proficiency with technology)
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office including fluency with Word and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to effectively and professionally communicate with remote staff using video conferencing, chat platforms, and instant messaging
