Reports to: ​ Executive Director

FLSA Status: ​Non-Exempt


The Organization

Founded in 1969, Centro Legal de la Raza (Centro Legal) is a comprehensive legal services agency providing bilingual and culturally sensitive legal representation, education, and advocacy. The mission of Centro Legal is to protect and expand the rights of low-income people, particularly monolingual Spanish Speaking immigrants throughout the East Bay region of Northern California.


The Position

Centro Legal seeks an Administrative Assistant to provide excellent administrative support to the Executive Director, Human Resources Director, and Finance team. This position plays a critical role in the organization’s key functions of administration, human resources, and finance. Therefore, the candidate must uphold a strict level of confidentiality and professionalism. Seeking a candidate with leadership skills who is interested in professional growth in the area of nonprofit administration.


Major responsibilities include:

Executive Assistance 30%

Provide direct administrative support to the Executive Director:

·      Schedule meetings and appointments.

·      Assist in Board of Directors meeting preparation and follow up, including organizing board materials, room set up, and ordering food.

·      Assist in executive communications with board and staff, including responding to calls and emails.

·      Provide administrative support on special projects and day-to-day operations.


Human Resources 30%

Provide direct administrative support to the Human Resources Director:

·      Data entry, scanning, copying, and filing.

·      Other administrative duties as needed on special projects and day-to-day operations.


Finance 30%

Provide direct administrative support to the Finance and Human Resources Manager and finance team:

·      Assist in weekly scanning, copying, and filing.

·      Assist in reconciliation of credit card statements and receipts.

·      Assist in check processing and mailing.

·      Ensure finance files are organized.

·      Maintain knowledge the organization’s financial procedures and protocols and adhere to these guidelines.

·      Other administrative finance duties as needed, including preparing mailings and delivering packages.

General Administrative Support (10%)

Provide administrative support to the Development and Communications Departments on special projects and mailings.

·      A genuine passion for working on issues affecting low-income individuals and immigrants.

·      Bachelor’s Degree.

·      Commitment to maintain the highest level of integrity for the organization.

·      Excellent skills in Word, Excel, Google applications, and online databases.

·      Excellent communication, analytic, and organizational skills.

·      Strong attention to detail.

·      Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage several projects at once.

·      Ability to prioritize and organize work to ensure that it is completed within the given time limit.

·      Ability to be flexible and deal with changing priorities.

·      Strong leadership skills and ability to take initiative.

·      Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work respectfully with a diverse group of people.


Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is $48,000 per year, plus medical, dental, vision, FSA, and 401(k) benefits. Generous vacation and holiday package.
