POSITION SUMMARY


Reporting to the Director of Youth and Family Engagement, the College & Career Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing program objectives in relation to preparing students for college and career paths. Responsibilities include oversight of program, partners, children and youth, as it relates to specific program elements. 


POSITION ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


KidWorks College Success Initiative (CSI)


·        Manage and coordinate overall aspects of College and Career Program

·        Coordinate CSI activities across youth, staff and volunteers

·        Provide case management and oversight of Journey Binders for high school and college students

·        Educate students and parents about colleges, the college admissions process, FAFSA and testing

·        Establish new College Mentorship Program

·        Coordinate Student Alumni Network activities

·        Provide scholarship opportunities and assist with scholarship applications

·        Provide referrals to supportive services, job postings, internships and college information as necessary

·        Meet with college admissions representatives (as needed) and serve as a liaison with college admissions

offices throughout the year

·        Keep up-to-date information about University California, Cal State, and Community College requirements

·        Coordinate and promote KidWorks college visits and Campus Crash, including students and parents


Parent Engagement


·        Advise and support families as they go through the college selection process

·        Expand current parent & family college success experiences which include, education and outreach


Evaluation


·        Track student achievement, monitor student engagement, and maintain student files

·        Monitor and ensure that students are maintaining agreed upon 2.8 GPA

·        Ensure all data is entered into a student database in a timely fashion

·        Complete monthly reports inclusive of student numbers, program highlights, 1-1 details, and goal progression


Mater Dei High School Scholarship Program (Private High School in Santa Ana, CA)


·        Provide overall management of KidWorks Mater Dei scholars, including application process and monthly

meetings

·        Maintain an open communication with Mater Dei staff and Mater Dei scholar’s family

·        Assist new applicants in registration and financial aid process

·        Approve tuition, book, and uniform payments according to budget

·        Track financial commitment and payments bi-weekly and follow-up with necessary parties accordingly

·        Communicate with KidWorks parent coordinator to ensure parents complete volunteer hours.


Overall KidWorks Programs Support


·        Provide early outreach to students from Kth-12th grade by implementing college readiness lessons

·        Support overall programmatic elements for students ranging from Kinder-12th grades as needed

·        Assist with planning and implementation of summer programming

·        Maintain a safe and enriching learning experience for students and volunteers in the program

·        Performs other related duties as assigned by KidWorks or the Director of Youth and Family Engagement

·        Bachelor’s degree required

·        Superior interpersonal skills

·        Strong written and oral communication skills

·        Proven ability to plan, multitask and manage projects 

·        Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships and work as part of a team

·        Computer literacy – knowledge in MS Office, database experience a plus

·        Demonstrated professionalism and diplomacy

· Valid drivers’ license and a reliable, insured vehicle for travel
