About the Role:

Reporting to the Program Coordinator – Project Hope; Director of Behavioral Health, the Crisis Counselor participates in FEMA Crisis Counseling Program training.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIILITIES

·        Work with individuals, families, and groups to provide FEMA Crisis Counseling services, virtually or in-person. This includes outreach, emotional support, individual/group counseling (not psychotherapy), public education, and referrals when needed.

·        Represent Project Hope in the community.

·        Network with other agencies and partners to ensure needs of survivors are met.

·        Provide presentations to community groups on disaster reactions, coping skills, stress management, and Project Hope.

·        Complete Project Hope data forms using Project Hope portal.

·        Other duties, as needed.

·        Work evenings or weekends, as needed.

 

QUALIFICATION AND CREDENTIALS

·        High school graduate, some college, or college graduate.

·        Relevant work experience.

·        Experience with client engagement and motivational interviewing.

·        Proficient in the following applications: Office 365 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Forms, Teams) and Zoom.

·        Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently.

·        Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

·        Ability to deal effectively with clients, staff, and third parties and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred

·        Experience with disaster relief programs.

·        Bilingual – Spanish or Mandarin.
