LULAC National Educational Service Centers (LNESC) is a nationally organized, community-based network of educational centers that provides educational, career preparation and leadership programs to disadvantaged Latino youth across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

LNESC was established in 1973 by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) to provide direct educational services to underserved communities throughout the US & Puerto Rico. LNESC serves more than 11,000 students each year, providing educational counseling, scholarships, mentorships, leadership development, and literacy and technology programs through its network of 14 educational centers. Since 1973, LNESC has assisted over 580,000 students, sent 158,000 on to college, and awarded over $29 million in scholarships.

Position Summary

LNESC seeks a full-time Administrative & Communications Coordinator responsible for providing administrative support and communications coordination to the Washington, DC office. They will also serve as the liaison between the National Office (DC) and LNESC's field centers on administrative tasks. This position is excellent for anyone seeking experience in the non-profit sector, specifically on Latino education issues, communications, and programs.

Key Duties & Responsibilities 

The Administrative & Communications Coordinator will report directly to LNESC’s Executive Director located in Washington, DC. The following is a list of essential responsibilities for the position of Administrative & Communications Coordinator:

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support to LNESC National Office and LNESC field centers.
  • Supports Fiscal Office with administrative tasks and accounting projects.
  • Assists in National Office communication with LNESC field centers and staff.
  • Greets scheduled visitors and alerts appropriate staff as to visitor arrival.
  • Purchases and monitors office and program supplies.
  • Monitors status of all office equipment and manage requests for repairs/assistance, as needed.
  • Assists in management of LNESC programs; communicates changes and progress.
  • Compiles and analyzes data for impact report on LNESC programs to funders.
  • Coordinates conference calls and database reporting methods for keeping updates of special programs.
  • Ensures LNESC programs are on track, identifies challenges to achieving deliverables, and develops solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Communications Responsibilities

  • Maintain organization’s online presence, including social media platforms and website, and explores new opportunities for web-based outreach and marketing.
  • Assist in development of marketing materials, media outreach and website content.
  • Oversee website maintenance and technical updates to insure the website is operational and functioning.
  • Provide regular updates to the website with any new data, content, pictures, images, videos, logos, anecdotes, testimonials and other relevant information.
  • Provide reports and analytical data as related to the website, as well as the analytics to the social media accounts connected to the website.
  • Manage shared content between website and social media accounts for consistency and timeliness of information.
  • Schedule and distribute messages, announcements, and newsletters through web-based email distribution system.

Qualifications

  • Computer Skills - Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Survey Monkey and possess ability to quickly learn database, internet, spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, including ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions.
  • Written Communication - Excellent writing skills, ability to write clearly and professionally.
  • Initiative - Takes independent actions and calculated risks; asks for and offers help when needed.
  • Diversity - Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; promotes a harassment-free environment.
  • Experience in website management preferred.
  • Spanish language skills a plus.
